Default Low Carb Food Pyramid
I found this today... and printed it off. Thought you guys might be interested in seeing it, too. It's a low carb food pyramid. Note that right under the grains (what we should eat the least of) are fresh cheeses and aged cheeses (and beans!). Under those are avocado... then EVOO, nuts and olives. I think this really shows the importance of basing our menus on vegetables first, then protein. Fats, nuts, olives, etc should be "condiments", not food groups. LOL Not a bad reminder, ya know?

That's pretty cool!

I would have put the fish and poultry before the fatty beef, though. And I would have left out the apple altogether, but added broccoli. That's just picky though, it's really good.

Karen... I think the apple is a plum, at least, that's what it looks like to me (hole where the pit was?). LOL And probably, the veggies are meant to represent ALL brightly colored low carb veggies... and maybe the meats are one group, but they just put the seafood over the meats within that group simply to represent "fresh protein". I like the visual aspects of this pyramid. It's not just words or colors... it's REAL FOOD.
