Default Arctic Apes Get Mercury Reward!
Thirty thousand pounds, people. That's 20,000! Arctic Monkeys have now been granted the Nationwide Mercury Prize 2006 due to their debut album 'Whatever People Say I'm, That's What I'm Not' despite stiff opposition from the kind of Thom Yorke, Guillemots, Hot Chip and the others. The three original members were present at the service to get the honor and the associated check for thirty thousand pounds. Alex Turner should have looked most surprised with the gain as he quipped: "Somebody phone 999, Richard Hawley's been robbed!", talking about the other Sheffield artist who was simply also selected - and expected by Alex Turner - for the reward. Turner added: "Thanks to everybody else that's served us. Usually it (the prize) doesn't visit a group that's offered therefore many documents, to place it bluntly, but we're happy. They're great songs, that's there aren't any methods and what we do, people are attempting to do way too many tricks." The nominations with this year were as follows: Arctic Monkeys - 'Whatever People Say I'm, That's What I'm Perhaps not' Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan - 'Ballad Of The Damaged Oceans' Publishers - 'The Rear Room' Guillemots - 'Through The Windowpane' Richard Hawley - 'Coles Corner' Warm Chip - 'The Warning' Muse - 'Black Holes & Revelations' Zoe Rahman - 'Melting Pot' Lou Rhodes - 'Beloved One' Scritti Politti - 'Bright Bread Dark Alcohol' Swing - 'This Really Is My Demonstration' Thom Yorke - 'The Eraser' Go Here To See The Approval Talk, thanks to the BBC.the video's here Nightmare Yes! I'm pleased for the young lads. The only real competition, completion for me personally was Muse, but I'd need certainly to say 'Whatever folks say I am...' Possibly does dge in forward. 20, 000 to accompany it annol. Anyway, Your ideas?
