Hi Bill,

Actually, its "intended" relative is the Lute, at least tonally, and one can vary the dynamics by light or heavy touch or everything in between - Now thats something you can't do on a harpsichord.

Very interesting instrument - hadn't heard of it before, and found info on Wikipedia for the Lautenwerck
Apparently JS Bach owned 2 of these at the time of his death.
