If you're only in it to be 'famous' then stop now and don't continue this endless loop of shitty music.

To be in 'the biz' you will get in at any opening you can. Don't just think 'STAGE PERFORMER' get behind the scenes, do grunt work at local studios you will learn a lot, session work, practice your primary instrument always, don't let theory and procedure rule/ruin your creativity, promote your band and love all those who appreciate your efforts in your music- they will be a great key in a performers ultimate success, learn other instruments, network with other musicians/engineers/anyone already in the biz- another key next to your fans, be ready to work hard- most bands don't get signed/commercially successful until their 10th year anniversary

Get a boob job and put out. (Hey it worked for Britney Spears.) Of course, you may not want to try that if you're a guy.

Spread your music all over a popular P2P program like Kazaa. Send the tracks to any website you find. Create a website of your own.

Advertising on the net is a great way of getting into the music business. Look at MP3.com

Its pretty much as much luck as talent. There are plenty of people in music biz, maybe better than the really popular ones, but they cant reach that level because the right people cant hear what they do. Its basically a matter of being good, and spreading publicity until it reaches on of those people that can actually do something to help you. Then if that happens, your pretty much in.

Get fans in your area, make a website, get demos, once you have enough fans in your area, make a music video, send it into a tv station like Much, get fans to request the video, once you got the video on, finish off your cd, sell cds for like $10-$15 each, and you'll get pretty popular. That's pretty much how my bros band did it.

How do you make it in the music business? That's easy: Download a music looping program, and mumble a few rhyming words off the top of your head. Bam, you have yourself a music career.

It helps if you take an ordinary word, rape it, then re-use it. Like: There = Thurr, or Scared = Scurred.

It should be pretty easy since you need no creativity to make it big these days.

I think yo ushould just play some shows and get a fanbase going, then make a CD/tape, whatever. Hand it out to fans, and they'll spread the word, keep it up like that, and I think you would get noticed. Not that I know how to make it, but that seems to make sense.

Yo~

You have to start with a local fanbase, word will spread pretty quick if you're one of the top bands in your area. Always promote yourself, pass out demo's every chance you get, ask local establishments what it takes to get a live performance there. Then maybe you can get on local radio, and from there it's just luck because someone from a record company will have to notice you. You can send demos to record labels, but that probably won't be effective like it was in the 80s.

go on American Idol *coughs* or do like my band and just make songs and distribute it around. The internet is a good place to get your music around. There's websites that specialize in offering good music from unknown bands.

Peace.
