This past week Billy Corgan, the former frontman for one of the 90's most succesful bands, released his first Solo album entitled the Future Embrace, and on the day that the cd was released he put out full page ads in both major chicago newspapers hyping up his album. In the article he states that he wants to "renew and revive" the pumpkins. Saying that he wants his band, his dreams, and his songs back. This could be great news for the rock world. When i first saw this article the other day i was about as excited as i have been in ages, but then it got me thinking...The last years of the band saw them becoming increasingly obscure, and taking a major shift from the sound that controlled their debut album Gish, as well as their breakthrough Siamese Dream, as well as their blockbuster grammy winning Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. If Billy can revive the old pumpkins sound and reunite the original foursome of himself, Jimmy Chamberlain, D'Arcy, and James Iah (maybe during the break A Perfect Circle is taking now), it would be outstanding...But if they dont revive the old sound and old band members it definitely wont be the same, i will still be excited though, just not as much as i would be if the original band got back together.

Well he could get Chamberlin back, and for substitute; he could get Melissa Auf Der Maur back who rocks in her own right.

He could also get Iha back. Remember now, APC's contract is up. APC is releasing a live DVD this fall, but besides that; nothing is go. Maynard is now going back to Tool for awhile.

I'm a huge Pumpkins fan, I'd love to see a reunion.

There's no freaking way he'll get D'Arcy, Chamberlin AND Iah back.
He might be able to get Chamberlin but I doubt D'Arcy will and specially Iah.

Personally I wouldn't care much as I was never a Pumpkins fan, liked Zwan even less, and his solo stuff- ha!

But really, he's not going to get all three of those members back unless they all magically get really desperate to sell their soul to the devil. (figure of speach)

And since he won't get all those members back- he won't be able to recreate the Pumpkins sound at least not in a way that feels authentic and make you fully enjoy them if you were a fan before.

I remember readin somewhere that Billy and Jimmy are "best friends" so he could possibly come back, but i seriously doubt that D'arcy would come back, seein as how she left the band on bad terms (i think, cant really recall at the moment)...but i dunno, i guess we will just have to watch the situation unfold as it develops.
