Default Best Cover Song?
I know there are sooo many bad cover songs out there.. So many I wont even go into naming them. Some of them arent that bad though, every once in a while a cover song comes up thats listenable.. So QUESTION!

In your opinion who and what is the best cover song to date? imo, just because Im listening to it right now, its gotta be Soil - Black Betty.. Proper kicks ass like.

Vida Loca - Shuriken.
I love the cover and I am truly addicted to the song at the moment.
Other mentions have to be Marilyn Mansons - Sweet Dreams, New Found Glory - My Heart Will Go On. And there are probably a few others but I can't think of them right now.

i really like Korn - The Wall.

but i can tell you a song that is one of the worse covers, Sheryl Crow - Sweet child o mine. I dont know who gave her permission to destroy that song. Even though i do like some of her music, that was just terrible.

hmmm...
Manson used to do my favorite covers...
"Down in the Park,"
"Rock'N'Roll ******,"
"Sweet Dreams (are made of this),"
"I Put a Spell on You"
..after Scott left/got fired their covers went to shit. (well...actually most to all of their music went to shit...it atleast down-graded)

I also really dig NINails' cover of "Get Down, Make Love" and "Dead Souls"

Jack Off Jills - "Love Song"

Letters to Cleo -
"I Want You to Want Me" and
"Dangerous Type" covers are rad.

Bauhaus' cover of "Ziggy Stardust"

a few of my favorite covers right there.

My least favorite cover ever:
Johnny Cash - "Hurt" (that cover disgusts me on many levels)

I'm not gonna say this is the best, but I love Radiohead's cover of Wish You Were Here.

Personally, I don't see how it is HUMANLY possible to make a guns 'n' roses song worse than it already is. Slash is an idiot.

I kinda like Cash's cover of "Hurt". He brings alot of feeling to it. NIN's original is good too.

Guns 'n Roses' cover of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" is terrible... but this is about good cover songs...

Death - Painkiller

Now, that's a great cover song.

BLS - No More Tears

Love it.

White Stripes - Jolene

I fell in love with it the moment I heard it.

Its got that ring of fire sound to it very odd but done well...Wasn't really a big fan of hurt myself to be honest he twisted the whole meaning to it which shouldn't occur.

Metallica - Whiskey In The Jar
Metallica - Astronomy
Guns N' Roses - Live and Let Die
Guns N' Roses - Mama Kin
Gusn N' Roses - Knockin' On Heaven's Door (the last 2 mins or so with the phone call I dislike, the first 3 mins or so are brilliant)

Cash bringing feeling to Hurt- that's just fucking hilarious.

If feeling is forced and unnattached. But what do you expect from a puppet...someone performing a song they've never heard before. Performing a song someone else told you, you should perform. An altered version at that...because the word 'shit' from the original would have been Cash not being a puppet and denying the idea of doing the song.

I prefer Alien Ant Farms version of "Smooth Criminal" to Jacksons.

Others I think are good:

"Saturday Night's alright (for fighting)" by Nickelback
"Behind Blue Eyes" by Limp Bizkit

I'm sure there must be others I like but I can't think of them right now
