"Piece by Piece" by Strata has made me think a lot lately. I don't know why though.

The Cure. Robert Smith has some of the most amazing lyrics I have ever heard. Tool's lyrics are dark and well done as well....but yeah The Cure's are top notch IMO.

I actually sat through a Radiohead concert on TV... sooooo boring. Oh well, music is all about taste. I'd rather get my nuts ripped off than ever seeing a Radiohead concert again, but that's me.

The new Dimmu actually have some good riffs and such, but the fake growling completely turns me off.

I always thought Andrew W.K. had some meaningful lyrics. He is always so positive, which is odd for someone who came up with "Party Hard" and "I Get Wet".

nirvana have always had really powerful lyrics to me, might just be me but they always really hit me like no others lyrics.

i think it just depends on what type of person you are and what moods you feel frequently.

Default Song Lyrics
I've been going through some music lyrics and trying to figure out which ones i like best or find most inspiring or powerful and I can't decide. Eminem pumps me up like crazy and Linkin park makes me think alot but i cant reely decide on the lyrics that stand out. Does any1 hav lyrics that stand out to them for any reason? It'd be cool to see which ones come up most often too.
~Peace~

I like the song "taking over me" by Evanescecnes...

"i believe in you
i'll give up everything just to find you
i have to be with you to live to breathe
you're taking over me"

makes me think about me and my relationship with God. Same thing goes with the song "october" - by evanescence...great song.

"Here comes the story of the Hurricane,
The man the authorities came to blame
For somethin' that he never done.
Put in a prison cell, but one time he could-a been
The champion of the world."

"Hurricane" was first released on Desire in 1976, and it tells the story of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, a man who spent 19 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit. Now, thank me for educating you.

Monster Magnet has great lyrics. So does every other band/artist I listen to. Even Kreator has great lyrics, because they fit the music.

But, I tend to stay away from bands with deeeeeeeeeeeep lyrics about bullshit (Radiohead) and bands with lyrics about ANGST, OMG TEH ANGST (Linkin Park). Also, any artist who's ever sung the words "You and I, fly so high and touch the sky" needs to be killed (not really... I'm not Micheal Metal).

As long as the writer wants to say SOMETHING, I'm happy.

"Existing like the rest
in endless emptiness
manipulated slaves
from the womb until the grave
you never had a chance
they put you in a trance
against your will"

- Kreator - No Reason To Exist

"You learn too much
you'll never know
just start to laugh
and God says no"

- Monster Magnet - God Says No

"In this world when at it's best
of never ending hate and death
abandon all and trust in me
escaping from reality
my world it has no space or time
the crippled walk and the sick feel fine
hand over your will and then you'll see
now get on your knees and worship me"

- Black Label Society - Counterfeit God

"Welcome to the morgue boy
where the music comes to die
welcome to the morgue son
I'll cut your throat just to stay alive
ah, trust me boy
I won't steer you wrong
if you trust me son
you won't last very long"

- W.A.S.P - Chainsaw Charlie (Murders In The New Mourge)

And just for fun...

"The sweet smell of warm blood,
it fills the air
your fucking guts
splattered everywhere

Ghoul!!!!"

Mayhem - Ghoul

Edit
Loakers... man, you listen to Radiohead? I'm shocked. Dimmu Borgir too. Well, they had some good stuff in the past, but the whole fake growl on Death Cult Armageddon is really a turn off.

I agree with you on the dimmu thing, but alot of the newer stuff has its own appeal.

Been a radiohead fan for years man. I love the critism they recieve - 99% of it is just so silly. They got great lyrics and alot of orignality that lead to a breed of new bands, but Jonny greenwood is just so good - spontanious guitar rocks!

many reasons I like em, and people are bound to disagree, but, hey - used to it here arent we?

I lean more on the metal side of things, but i can make time for other music, as long as it has an effect on me.

Scars, the new single by Papa Roach has some pretty meaningful lyrics...here is a sample:

"I tear my heart open, I sow myself shut
My weakness is that I care too much
My scars remind me that the past is real
I tear my heart open just to feel "

I would say Hendrix man just listen to "Castles made of Sand" if your in a sad mood I could see someone crying just because of how emotional it is. It's a very overlooked song.

And also GNR is overlooked for their lyrical meaning of course probabally more so after Appetitite where Axl wanted to make the band more than just a quartet. "Patience" and "Don't Cry" are awesome examples.

And what about Bobby Dylan, holy shit man that guys got some incredibly deep songs. Check out "The Hurricane" it's pretty much based on that movie with Denzel Washington on the wrongfully accused Boxer. It actually happend but I believe Dylan wrote the song years and years before the movie.

Subterranian Homesick blues...is a freekin classic by Dylan.

And Nickelo that indeed was the worst joke...ever

Later oN
