Umm thats a really really hard question, but as for more recent albums, i'd have to be pressed to say Pretty Hate Machine by Nine Inch Nails. A classic album, all the songs are kick ass, and it definitely paved the way for one of my other favorites from the 90's, the Downward Spiral.

Well if we're talking Rock/Metal, then.

Metallica - Ride The Lightning
Pretty much any Pantera album
String Driven Thing - The Machine That Cried
Eric Clapton - Time Pieces (Yes I know it's more blues, but i can be classic rock)
AC/DC - Back In Black
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction

That's all I have for now.

Appetite For Destruction - Guns N' Roses

How The West Was Won - Led Zeppelin

Zoso - Led Zeppelin

Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd

A Momentary Lapse Of Reason - Pink Floyd

Meddle - Pink Floyd

Are You Experienced? - Jimi Hendrix

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

As for Evanescence even being CONSIDERED to anything CLOSE to a good rock album...that's just a joke.

That's because they suck. This is a thread about the best rock albums.

Here's some other albums that can at least be considered in a category of THE BEST:

Moving Pictures - Rush

Van Halen 1 - Van Halen

Abbey Road - The Beatles

Yellow Submarine - The Beatles

Oh hell yeah, Mark Knopfler's "Golden Heart" album was pretty damn good aswell.

Also;

Muse - Origin of Symmetry
Audioslave - Audioslave
Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast
Span - Mass Distraction

Asatru, the Seether album you're on about is Disclaimer, I think, which is a very good album.
