I saw Rancid at a small club in Dallas called the Gypsy Tea Room on friday night, thought I would let everyone know how the concert was.
There were two opener bands, and I can't remember the name of the first one. The second band was The Street Dogs, a boston punk band. They put on a spirited show, which created a fun pit. The crowd went crazy after they went off in antcipation of Rancid. While I have listened to a bit of Rancid, I have never considered myself a huge fan of theirs. They spawned a pretty consistent sized pit for the majority of the show, which was nice. It was mostly a catalogue of their songs through out the years, featuring their more popular ones such as "If I fall back down", "Ruby Soho", and a few more. I enjoyed their first encore, which was a few of their slowier songs on acoustic. All in all, I would say that anyone that has a remote interest in "punk" try out a Rancid show. The crowd wasn't nearly as elitist punk as I thought they would be, and it was an overall fun show. |
