Was listening to "Wall Street Shuffle", by 10cc. GREAT beat, but the lyrics are anti-capitalist and satirical of money and wall street. I was wondering if anyone knew of any songs that were pro-Capitalist and Money but not pro-Hedonism (Get Money by 50 Cent would fall into this category).

You know the greatest irony? That is Che. He was a mass murdering communist maniac but has become popular with the ignorant how? Capitalism. He was no doubt responsible for many deaths, but don't doubt for a second that Gueverra wasn't completely all there. He was an extremely astute man. |

Do protest bands exist? One of my favorite songs was the live version of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young doing Four Dead in Ohio. They made tons of money but what else did they do at the time to protest that made an impact? I am not saying there are no protest bands. Just that they bark more than they bite. ![]() |

Sure they do but make no mistake that they are also in it for the money more than to send a message. Of course this was over 30 years ago as well, and I'm not sure what more CSNY could do, picket outside Nixons office? One might argue that the song heaped public pressure on the state guard, and maybe could help prevent something like this again, but then - this was massive news anyway, regardless whether anyone wrote a song about it... I'm not cynical enough to say CSNY wrote the song to make money, but at the same time, while it's a great song - it probably had little effect. Much like most music trying to protest such highly publicised single attrocities. |
