Default thinking of a song to enter trance state?
Does anyone think it's possible just to enter a trance state by thinking of a song? I had a few experiences that felt very close to an exit when I just so happened to be "failing" in my meditation because I had a song stuck in my head.

Well, to me, a song that gets stuck endlessly repeating in my head feels like a mantra and would certainly be no different than chanting the same sound or group of words over and over to facilitate meditation.

I used to love Ambient House back in the day. There's a ten-minute track by Innocence called "Natural Thing" that I find perfect for meditating to.

Here's a YT link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlFrPVCV1Iw

All this is relative- it's ok to do this but sometimes songs come with memories- and you may then go into a daydream prompted by the memory, and then go into a 'worry' reverie. That's why mantras are better- they don't 'remind you of anything', and you can keep your focus on them.
Sure, songs are fine if there is no emotional baggage associated with them, but if they do remind you of something that is going to be distracting, you may want to change the song or switch to a mantra.
