Very, very fascinating story! I can see what you mean. That's interesting, because when I wrote that it was both my sister and myself who experienced the loud bangings in the house, yet no one else could hear them, these episodes all took place following the death of our mother as well. So our energies would probably have been pretty emotionally charged...I was 10 and my sister was 6 when we lost our mum, we were the youngest in the family. We also grew up in a pretty bad environment, esp. after our mum's passing...lots of verbal abuse, our dad drank a lot, and there was also sexual abuse that I experienced. As a child, I had the feeling that the bangings occured as a result of our mother's spirit being upset - both over leaving us when she hadn't wanted to go, and over the fact that we were suffering in her absence. Of course now I'm not sure if that was the case, but I do believe that both my sister's and my emotions played a heavy part in us experiencing the strange events. I also believe I actually heard my mum's spirit walking around one night. I was sleeping in the downstairs bedroom - there was only one downstairs, so I was the only one asleep on that floor of the house - when a noise woke me. I used to always sleep with the blankets over my head, as I was afraid of the dark, so when I heard the noise I woke up, but didn't uncover my head...was just too afraid. The noise I thought I heard was my bedroom door slowly opening. I lay there for a moment and waited, wondering if I'd imagined it. Then I heard the distinct sound of footsteps walking across the hardwood floor towards my bed. By this time I was petrified, and my heart was pounding so loudly I felt certain whoever was in my room would hear it. The footsteps stopped right at the side of my bed, in front of a cedar chest that was in my room. It was my mum's cedar chest, and it was filled with blankets and linen...but at the bottom of the chest was a drawer, and as I lay there I thought I heard the drawer opening, and shuffling of papers. After that I heard nothing, and I must have lay there for at least an hour, too afraid to move a muscle...but nothing happened. And that's all I can recall, so at that point I must have finally fallen back to sleep despite my fear. The next morning when I woke up that was the first thing I remembered, but of course I thought I must have been dreaming. Then I went to get out of bed. I looked down and was shocked to see that the drawer to the cedar chest was open, and the papers - letters from my oldest brother, who had enlisted in the U.S. army several months before - were scattered about. When I got up I asked my dad, my sister, and my younger brother if they had been in my room that night, and they all said no, and wondered why. When I told them what had happened, my dad and brother both said I had to be dreaming. My sister did believe me, which was a bit of a comfort. I do believe the presence in my room had been that of my mum, that she was somehow worried about David, my brother who was away in the army- this was during the time of the Vietnam war - and was somehow trying to connect with him. |

I think there are so many things taking place in spirit world - which I believe is just a veil away from us in the physical - that we can pick up on many many things. The scratchings at the door (as you and I both experienced), or lights blowing constantly - or turning on or off by themselves, or hearing your name whispered...there can be all sorts of explanations, ranging from the scientific to the spiritual, or even combinations. I tend to think that our emotions factor into it heavily, as does being more aware of entities that could be around us. Interesting that you believe your boyfriend's house is haunted. If this is the case, perhaps you are a more 'sensitive' person to whatever or whoever could be occupying the house, and that could be why you experienced this, while your boyfriend seems oblivious to such events (either that, or he isn't willing to admit to himself that he's heard/seen/felt things; many people will absolutely deny the possibility). I'm curious to hear what caused you to believe the house is haunted - besides what you shared about the scratching sounds. This subject fascinates me...I love sharing stories... Well, my boyfriend did pick up on some stuff before I was there but he likes to think of a logical explination before jumping to conclusions. I guess some people may say i jump to conclusions but i really just think i can feel if it's something supernatural. His sister had seen a nun before (their house was a home for unmarried mothers at one point and run by nuns). there is all kinds ofnoises, walking up stairs and accross the landing. My boyfriend said that once when men were in laying carpet in one of the rooms (the one i was staying in) the door locked shut on them and no one could get it open for ages. Music turns itself on at night. What i experienced when i stayed there the first time... The room i was staying in had an odd feeling to it. I knew there was someone standing by the door watching me. I couldn't physically see her but i could describe her. It was almost as if she wasn't angry but she was checking me out as if she were a bit wary of me. There was the scratching at the door. One night i was laying in bed and heard noises downstairs as if someone was moving furniture around. I thought it was burglers but we went and searched and nothing was there. The dogs didnt wake up either. There were two things that happened to me and my boyfriend that really scred me. For ages if we were sleeping in his bedroom we would be woken up by really loud banging from the floor above (unused bedroom) It literally sounded as if someone was dropping heavy furniture on the floor, the ceiling would shake. his mother, who would be awake in the room next door wouldn't hear anything. That hasnt happened in a long time though. The second thing was one night i was asleep and mike was awake watching tv. We were the only people in the house at the time as his parentswere on holiday. He woke me up to ask me if i heard an odd noise and i said i didnt (i could tell he was worried or else he wouldnt have woken me up). At the moment i asked him what it sounded like it happeed again. It was like a pitiful whining scream, almost like a cat except to loud to be a cat. I was half asleep and immediatly went mental because i thought someone broke in. We heard movement in the downstairs of the house and we called the police. In the meantime my boyfriend went to investigate with a hurley stick lol. Anyways, we found nothing, police found no evidence of anyone having been in the house. I honestly could havesworn someone was in there. It's been less active recently (within the past couple of years) but i have spoken to his sister (who now lives next door... it was once one house and now it' two) and she is convinced her half is haunted. She thinks something touched her face at night. I think she wants to get a psychic in. We havefigured out you get the most activity in Oct/Nov time. Anyways, thats EXTREMLY long so i'll stop there lol. There has been so many odd things happen in that house that i could go on forever. Oddly enough nothing ever related to babies... you would expect to hearor see something but nope. |

I had a couple more experiences actually more than that, but I don't want to make you all crazy with my yakking lol.
Now this makes me nuts that I lost the item I am going to tell you about (a photo). Years ago I had broke up with a boyfriend and decided I needed to get out of town, so being an Elvis fan, I decided to visit Graceland (I lived in Vancouver, Can. at the time) I had some other experiences there as well, but I won't get into them now. I did all the tourist things such as posing on the front stairs at Graceland (asked someone to take my picture) When I got the pic developed, I could clearly see behind me, seeming to be in the bushes, the top half of what looked like an older woman with what looked like a white, short sleeved blouse on, (anyone that has been to Graceland, knows you don't get near the bushes in front) At the time, I didn't know who to ask about it, so I went to the psychic society in Vancouver. I saw a lady there, showed her the picture and after holding the pic, asked me if I had a sister on the other side. I said yes, there had been a sister died before I was born. She said that the person in the pic was my sister staying close, as I was in such an emotional state. Not that this isn't strange yet, but it gets stranger. I went back, and the next time, holding the pic, she said that she was getting pictures of stacked boxes in a darker area and someone saying "Sing Mary Sing". I said I had no clue what that could be, she said "ask your mother", so I did. When I did, my mum literally turned white and asked me how I had known that, as she had never, ever told me about it. You see, my mum was british, and went through world war 2, when Britain was getting bombed, and she would take the kids to the underground shelters (where boxes of food were stacked), and one of her kids, Mary, would get bored and scared, so she would say "Sing, Mary, Sing". I still get chills when I remember. |

I said I had no clue what that could be, she said "ask your mother", so I did. I went to a psychic once on a lark...this was back in the early 80s, and I didn't believe in it at all...but the woman was so spot on with everything, it was amazing. She also read for my sister and my best friend, and got both of their readings accurate as well. It was funny too, my sister still has the original tape of her reading (I lost mine years ago), and we were sitting listening to it one day. The pyschic, Rose, was talking about my sister's future love interests, and she mentioned a man who would come into her life and sweep her off her feet...but he would leave quickly. She said that he wore a red shirt very often, and with that description alone we realized she'd been talking about a man my sister had been seeing a couple of years ago. What's funny is, in listening to the tape again I had asked my sister to turn it up to full volume, as my hearing has been going downhill and the quality of the tape was so bad...and listening to it that way we suddenly heard Rose's voice, in a whisper, saying, 'Oh, he's so old'. LOL...in all the times my sister had listened to it, she'd never heard it before; but it was again accurate...the man she'd been seeing in 2001 had been 18 years older than her. Unfortunately I cannot go back to Rose for another reading, as she is probably retired now, and I live almost 1000 miles away...but wouldn't it be great if you could return to the woman you saw and request an indepth reading? I'd be curious to hear what she'd tell you! |

Hey, Sorry, it's taken me so long to get back to you! Christmas and all.
I did actually go back for quite a few more readings, she really did say some stuff that blew my mind, some things regarding Graceland, but I'm sure people would laugh if I told them, so I usually don't say anything regarding that There were a couple very strange things happened at Graceland that time. One other thing that really made me blink was she asked, no, told me that I had my place decorated in oranges and browns, I said, "well yes, why?" She said, "you were at this age in a life as a native indian and you were the only woman allowed to go on hunts as you could lead them to the animals, you have always been highly psychic" Most of my apartment at the time was all in oranges, rusts and browns! It is amazing when you get a good psychic. Years ago I had my tarot cards read by an old man, and he told me that in years from that time, I would move far, far away from where I was across lots of waterways. I blew it off, thinking, yeah, what a waste of money that was. I lived in Vancouver, Canada, years later, I met a man from New Orleans where we now live!!! |

I often get raps when I've been meditating, and also feel a presence in the room when it happens. I'ts like a loud crack inside the wall, of a gentle quiet tapping that's too consistant for a chance noise of furniture creaking etc.... At first I brushed it off, but it became more persistant at times to ignore, so I began to study it when it happenend. I was told that it was encouragement from my Spirit Guide. |
