how to get past a bad spiritual experience.

I just feel like I can't stomach it. I think if it meant connecting with just positive energies I may be okay but since theirs all sorts of energies out there then it's not for me. it can get quite scary. don't really know how some ppl do it. I feel sad though cos for yrs now i'm been so interested in how ppl connect to the other side & now I'm not interested anymore. I was betrayed by a person who was the "teacher" in the development group i had attended and who i also called a friend. I wont go into specifics but that whole experienced both opened my eyes and blew everything out of the water for me i felt like at the end i had actually gone backwards, i was used, and truth be told i let myself be used as a result i had a psychic burnout. So basically i decided that i would start from the beginning i needed to start from the beginning and this time do it right. Its been slow but im taking my time im enjoying the journey. I learnt a valuable lesson and i can see now why i had to go through that.

Harmony, do you recollect reading a past post from me entitled 'My guide tricked me'. Dont know if it was on here or another site, but basically it said that I had done some automatice writing and had met what I thought was my guide. He spent a few days teaching me such wonderful things, and even taught me how to heal a sick cat that was litterally at deaths door, and an hour after I did a healing on it, it was up and running around and scoffing everything in sight. So the healing he taught me really worked. However, the next day he reveals himself to be a negative energy spirit, and told me he only led me on because I was so stupid and gullable.

This completely knocked my confidence, and I spent a long time in deep despair, and blaming myself for dabbling with things that I should have left alone. I also got lots of supportive emails from people telling me that I should keep on trying with my development, but to make sure that I use proper grounding and protection techniques first. Well the sad part about all this is that I did use the grounding and protection techniques prior to coming into contact with this negative spirit, and that made me wonder why this had happened to me at all. Questioning whether I actually had a spirit guide watching over me or not, because if I had, then why had my guide not protected me from this negative enery. It was all a very hard time for me.

However a couple of months later Im slowly beginning to pick myself up again and start to meditate again. It has had an effect on me though, and its left me feeling very doubtful about all this spiritual stuff, and whether I will ever make any progress in my efforts to develop. I suppose only time will tell on that one.

Could it be your not feeling at peace where your living? There seems to be a muddiness some were near you.

If you have something to move through, in your life, then this can cause your focus to shift and receiving clear messages is very difficult. Our ego's, always seem to get in the way at these times, you see when your in a time of contemplation our ego's feel challenged, part of it know's this could be there time, meaning you are on the freehold of releasing a part of this muddiness, from your soul.

Don't give in stay the course and the waters of your mind will cleanse once again only this time your messages will have more clarity.

Just want to give skye a big thank you and hug for getting me past this experience. I feel like i can let it go now and not hold a grudge about it anymore. xoxo

As mediums, we are tested. Probably no more than people who don't see or hear dead people, but I feel its more intense. We are challenged with skeptics, cheeky spirits, negative people and more. The reason? We hold a lot in our hands when we deliver messages. They want to know we can handle the rejection, they want to know we can discern which is a fake spirit and which is the real deal. Think of it as Medium Testing. That's exactly what it is.

I went through it and I know about 40 mediums and they STILL are going through it. It's been a quiet period for me, drama has died down, I know it's only the lull before my next test.

We all question ourselves during that time. I almost quit several times. But I asked them to bring me a specific sign if THIS was to be my path.

I got that sign, every time I asked. So mostly they said.. "YES YOU DOPE!, but you have to learn to deal with A and B and C to be good and righteous in your path."

Don't give up. We help SO many people with the gift. I want MORE of us. It's not a competition to me. It shouldn't be to any of us. We are all on different journeys, we work differently and therefore are unique.

If any guide/spirit gives you orders, or is negative in his/her messages, this is a red flag that its NOT a guide but a spirit that has come to test you.

SEND it away. Forcefully. Ask the archangels to remove the spirit and send in your guides for your highest good.

Sometimes we are so excited to connect, we take any voice/connection that shows up. They are hoping that happens. We have free will. Our guides can't step in, but they will give you signs and nudges to tell you.. "Hey.. he's not your guide."

I say this whenever I do spirit work.

I call the light of my Divine Source. May you protect me in every way, in every day.
Bring to me my chosen guides, those for my highest good and highest vibration.
Surround me in your white light of protection, only good comes to me... and only good comes from me.

Yes Harmony, I too felt that it came to me soooo easily, with almost no effort at all, just like you said. And I could also just switch in on, and switch it off really easily. Maybe that is the lesson that we had to learn here eh. That nothing worth having comes easily, everything that is worth anything at all has to be worked at, and worked at hard too.

Our experiences seem identical, right down to the very minutist detail, so there has to be something more than just a huge coincidence in all this. I think that these lower level spirits (for want of a better name) must just lurk about waiting for 'learners to become vulnerable' and that is when they jump in and do their worst. It does make me think though, that maybe it is because we are ON THE RIGHT PATH with something that we are doing, that these lower spirits come along, to try to knock our confidence and in doing so, stop us from progressing on that path that we were on. They do not want us to be on that path, because it was 'the right path to be on' if you are working for goodness and light.

So knowing that, has now made me all the more determined to get right back on that path and see where it is going to lead me. Its obviously the right path, if negative energies want me off it. Nuff said........... Im back on the path, and back on track.

This may sound silly but I dont see it as a test, But I do always ask to be protected, not just in spiritual work but in everyday life also.

I feel the spirit world is very much like earth in a certain respect. There are cranky souls, mean & manipulative ones, there are happy souls, protective souls there are guides, there are angels.

Just as we meet someone on earth, we "pick up" There is something about this person that makes me feel uncomfortable, or you feel like you knew them for ever the first time you meet them.

When I feel a presence around me I use those same instincts.
If you think about it thats what we are doing anyway.

2.a natural or innate impulse, inclination, or tendency.
3.a natural aptitude or gift: an instinct for making money.
4.natural intuitive power.

Just in every day life I feel 2 things help us, 1 healthy boundries and 2.Good judgment of charactor.

You dont always take what your neighbor says at face value, It takes time to build a relationship with anyone.

I use these same principles when I feel a connection.

I myself Im not sure if I ever met my guides. I know God, and Jesus and how they protect me & guide me in life. I feel my guides are there helpers I "Think" I have met one of my guides lol. I know I have met God and Jesus and felt there protection and love surround me.

In all the years that i've been on my spiritual journey including developing mediumship, I have never communicated with a spirit who has created feelings of disharmony in any way, nor have I been tested by spirit unless I am unaware of it. I don't claim to know everything about the spirit world nor how it works yet I do listen and accept the teachings of spirit. This has enhanced my sense of reasoning thereby establishing my truth which has kept me protected and grounded.

Why would anyone choose to take unnecessary risks communicating to a world where - it's allegedly said by human beings - there are spirits who will have no other intent than causing mischief and mayhem towards you. How would a medium be able to concentrate on what s/he was doing if there was a fear within them of meeting such entities? What I can tell you is the fear alone would attract them.
No one person can argue with Universal Laws.

I'm not saying there aren't people who in their physical lives did cause all manner of suffering to other human beings. Nonetheless, what I am saying is they are in a place they have earned as a result of their actions. They don't realise other planes or levels exist they are wrapped up in their own darkness of thoughts.

In their surroundings they are watched over by spirit who will help them. Whenever these spirits are ready to accept help and progress upward to a higher level the spirit people watching over them will be there. Until that time comes they can't just move to another level at will, it goes against God's divine law.

I am in no way different to other people. Any problems that have arose has been of my own doing either through ignorance and/or a lack of training, not because of some negative, nasty or evil spirit entity. Therefore, as this is my experience other people can without a shadow of a doubt also have a similar experience if they so choose.

I totally understand what you're saying about fear attracting these spirits. it's pretty much when the fear crept in that things went wrong!
