Hi New Friends,
May I ask a question please. I am new to this site and have noticed that many people are charging for their “readings” (sorry I’m very new to this). I am not trying to be critical because I would never judge you, but why do you charge people money to help them? I have been told that being able to see into people’s minds and hearts is a gift from God. I don’t understand not freely given what has been freely given. I have had people tell me that I could, “Make a lot of money” with my talent. I would never do that even though I am between jobs right now. I have seen psychics on TV commercials and have always thought that they were fakes or taking advantage of people. Please do not think that I am being critical, I am just confused. I hope I have not injured anyone’s feelings. Thanks Aries |

Where have you seen people asking for questions? What board is it on?
As for people elsewhere charging for their time etc, that's personal decision. No one can say it's right or wrong. People will assume what they want to. It's a discussion that goes on and on and no doubt will forever be debated on. Everyone is responsible for their own actions and they must do what they feel is right. |

All talented people charge for their services. How else are they to make a living. Where does the writer and the artist differ from the psychic?
I'm not a psychic by the way but I do understand why they charge for their services. And any artist would charge what others are willing to pay. As in every profession there are those who abuse the system. Therefore it is for us to be very selective of who’s services we choose to engage. Buyer beware. |

I'm a psychic medium that charges for a yearly membership. You get readings, counseling, psychic development, etc all for the membership. But I try to charge a fair price.
The answer is pretty simple, we charge for the time and we are offering a service. Psychic development takes time, hard-work and dedication,(despite being born with the potential) there is preparation involved if you want to do a reading for a person, doing mediumship readings takes a lot of energy. More then that though, we are usually offering a whole lot of different services. As a result, it takes time. If you are having 10 clients a day, you need time to prepare and offer those services. Society works simply...if there is enough demand from the public for your service, you have to make it into a business model..else, its impossible. You will end up on the street if you decide to offer it despite the amount of time it takes. Or...you won't be able to share your gifts with people who believe in you and who you help greatly. Jesus was not born into a consumer society. Comparing that to now is just not fair. |

Hi Aries, She has had permission to include on her signature the skills and talents she has on this site because she has been more than helpful and does a great deal of service for this site. However she does not, repeat does not, charge for any readings on here. If this is not the lady you are talking about, apologies. |

Jesus was not born into a consumer society. Comparing that to now is just not fair. There will always be arguments for and against this topic. Which is why I keep my views on it to myself and prefer not to defend my actions in any way whatsoever. I't just not worth the time or effort. |

I believe Aries was meaning Jesus did it for the love of doing it rather than charging or perhaps bartering for it. |

Hi Aries!
Im glad you brought this up because I was just explaining this to my friend. I understand what you are saying,I truley do, as a Reiki healer and beginning reader, I feel we should help who we can. However, this is not just about a consumer society, quite the contrary, it is all about ENERGY BALANCE. All things must be balanced, and this balance also applies to readings. The person doesnt have to necessarily give money, but a psychice or healer uses a lot of energy in a reading, and as she is giving she must also receive to balance this transfer. GREAT EXAMPLE! I just gave my friend, who is a fantastic hair stylist, a reading on monday night. Since we are all tight on money these days and instead of paying cash, which I would have felt uncomfortable taking since I myself am still practicing, she gave me a fantastic haircut instead! And it was fantastic and the energy of give and receive is balanced! You'll notice in the bible, Jesus doesn't receive money but he does receive 'gifts' of oil and such as a 'thank you.' This idea of energy transference in the form of readings and 'payment' is talked about in some spiritual books, you can probably google it to get a better idea. Don't feel bad about asking, how else are you to know? I hope this helps, any more questions don't hesitate to ask! Much love and light |

The only thing I would say when you have set prices it means that you will only accept that amount of money. If a person who wasn't rich and couldn't afford the price that you had set, but really needed a reading. Would you turn them away just because of a material issue such as money? My only problem is when people charge beyond what they need. I charge just for my time. Sylvia Browne charges people $750 for 30minutes, a one time thing. I charge $115 per YEAR...its a one year membership..allowing you to take advantage of different services.(readings, counseling, development). And its available whenever you want..there is no max anything. It's constant support. Constant sessions. That constant support is what I think we are missing in our community. I don't like any readings that are a one-time thing. Support is what our community should be about. It's about checking up on people we did readings for. It's about answering questions. It's about developing their abilities. I don't understand this stuff about let's just give them this book, they pay for it, and there is no support after. |

I would not personally, especially if I felt that they really needed my help. However I don't do readings as my soul source of income, so I cannot answer for everyone. Many gifted psychics have to be careful because there are some who would take advantage of their gift by appealing to their compassionate side. I think that if there is truly someone in need, and I can help without true detriment to myself or others then I would help, haha or I would like to think that I would be noble enough to help ahaha but situations vary so much. Just because someone might not give the reading doesnt make them a bad or greedy person, past experiences perhaps have taught them what they can and cannot do, and what they will or will not accept based on personal choices. I hope that helps, any more questions, then keep them coming!
