Default An Experience in Hypnotherapy
I was there in the comfy chair with my eyes closed and he’s saying with a soft voice “and now you’re going to go down into the garden. Now you come to the top of the stairs leading down into the garden.” So, in my head, I walked down the stairs. Then he says “and now you’re going to go down the stairs.” So I walked back up the stairs and then back down the stairs. Then he says “Now you go down the first step.” So, Ok, we’re going to do them one at a time. I went back up the stairs, and then down the first step, then the second… Then he says “Now you step down the last step and you’re in the garden.” I’m standing on this bit of concrete hanging out in the middle of nothing; all I see is black, empty nothing. So, Ok, I’ve got to imagine this garden. First I put some grass there. Then I put two beds, one on either side of the stairs. Then I put some plants in the beds, these thin leaved shrubby things. Then I put some of these thick stem things with broad leaves slaying out at the top. Then some of these other smaller shrubby plants and some ground cover thing on the bottom. Then I put a border around them, like those little half logs stapled to a plastic strip borders you can buy. Then I put some mulch in. Now the grass is gone, so I put the grass back. Ok, now I’ve got it. All nice and bright like the sun’s shinning on it (I just realized. I forgot to put the sky in. Doesn’t matter). So now I’ve got it I started paying attention again. He’s already off down the paddock somewhere. I’m not running to catch up. So I stopped listening to him and listen to the birds chirping outside, which was pretty relaxing.
