im not vegetarian but, i try. I don't eat meat a lot except when i absolutely have to, to keep me healthy so im not guilty. Plus, the only meat i eat is chicken...no beef, turkey and so on. But, as long as im eating it cuz i absolutely have to to keep myself alive (being veggie is quite expensive lol..my parents are...)

i would eat meat if it went back to the hunter situation (although i'd have to get my boyfriend to do the hunting lol) i dont like the idea the the animals are specifically farmed for people to eat. i dont think it's right to not give them a chance at a real life (let alone the way most suffer) and it's an enormous stress on the environment.
i dont however think that the hunter situation is a realistic solution for everyone at the moment lol

Yeah I know what you mean...I feel the same way, even though I do not eat meat a lot anymore...when I did, I used to send heaing to the meat to relieve the flesh of the stress (of inhumane killing and everything thas happening) and send energy as an honour to the animal of its death...and ask them to help me and guide me.....

Vegetarian spaghetti *drools*

Just make the sauce yourself but than instead of adding minced meat you use the vegetarian alternative. If you don't know how to make the sauce, let me know, I learned it from my mother a couple of days ago Best Food Ever & now I can make it myself !
I'm listening...LOL...my parents are vegetarian..I eat meat(chicken) once in a while like twice every month or so...but, that's not the point...ok. I have such problems making vegetarian alternatives for anything! I am cursed when it comes o cooking, how do you make the sauce? Half the vegetarian sauce you get in the market are yucky!

P.S. just read the last couple posts about not needing meat...
It could be true that you don't really meat but what's a fast alternative protein and energy wise does anyone know? My food involves meat for the protein and nutrients that I would not get with my messy eating schedule..does anyone know of a fast (doesn't take forever to cook) replacement...I can't drink milk btw

I eat meat but love vegitables and salads also...lately though, it seems my family has shifted to enjoying more pasta and chicken than red meat. I don't think of it often but when I do, I consider all points including that plants also have emotions...I think that the important thing to remember is that we give thanks to those lifeforms that sustain us physically and bless the animal rights activists for at least trying to make the lives of these creatures better.

Do you?
No, I tried before about a year ago and I'm glad I am back to eating meat, though I wish I could eat healthier. It's ironic, that I ate more animal products as a vegetarian than veggies and fruit.

everything in moderation..i have a cholesterol disease that runs in my family. So i dont need a lotta meat. My daughter saw Charlottes web recently and wouldn't eat bacon or ham until someone told her Wilbur didn't die..those are his brothers and sisters, then she was ok w/ eating the bacon!!!lol
Anything in excess will eventually be harmful. From a heealth stand point i think being mostly vegetarian is a good idea for me and my daughter(she typically doesn't even care for anything besides chicken and fish)But if i felt bad for eating meat i couldn't imagine what else i would feel bad for in a course of a day!! Alas i probably would never get out of bed for fear of looking at someone the wrong way or having bad breath!
Cheeers!

I've been a vegetarian for 20 years, I started thinking about when I was watching my mum stuff a chicken when I was about 9 or so. And i just thought i'll never be able to do that. Also I could never eat liver and onions as a kid, and I really didn't like to see bones in meat at all. In my 20's read a book by Linda Goodman (astrologer) and she said she was veggie and could never eat anyting with 2 eyes that could look back at her.. and I started thinking a lot about that..

then i took the plunge and cut out red meat for 2 years, then chicken, and after that fish... I do eat veggie cheese and dairy products tho I prefer soya milk and soya products. there's loads of foods you can eat..

In the first development circle i sat in around 1988, everyone in it was a veggie! which was unusual, at the time.. there was a great energy in the group.

Anyway, i hope u dont think i am preaching, i believe that everyone has to make their own decisions and should do that. I don't miss meat at all now, and i can get veggie rashers which i think are delicious and yummy..!

love and light,
janspirit

I'm a vegetarian, I think it's strange people just accept that they eat meat when they actually don't have to. If you google a bit, you can see there's lots of (respectable) resources telling you you don't Need meat. You don't even need to buy the replacement foods. I have read something about eggs containing all of the vitamins we need (& no eggs are NOT as bad as eating the chicken).

What the hell are people doing anyway? For instance people actually don't realise the milk they drink, the cheese they eat and all other (can't come up the word "zuivel" in English) products wouldn't be HERE at All if the animals were not living! Also because of the fact people are more and more living in cities, they don't really respect Nature. They just think only we, humans, are making this world as to what it is.

What about you? Do you know milk comes from cows and not out of a factory, because it comes in a oh so wonderfully prepackaged bottle/can? Do you actually know you wouldn't be living if there were no animals on this planet? If you don't realise this, please come to realise this:

Be thankful to Nature and -animals- , they are not here to exploit. They just Are, just like you and me, to live a life. Not for being mass produced or slaughtered at a very young age! We are all here to live in harmony with every living being. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE: THINK GLOBALLY ACT LOCALLY. BREAK THE SILENCE.
You don't eat (or more drastically: slaughter) a cow to thank it for assisting you with Living, do you? It's like chopping someones head off because he or she has proven you a valuable service! You don't do this!

Any way, you may believe in it or not, but if you feel it's wrong what you're doing STOP doing it. Karma will bite your back one day. If it's not now it will be in your next life.

Don't say you can't make the difference! You know you want to be loving and receive love back. So if you need to make this change, do it right now. There's plenty of alternatives which are even more tasteful than meat! If you change now, it's the beginning of even more people that will change too because on of the two will happen:
1) People don't want to be left behind as a meat eater as all of their friends won't understand them. The group is becoming bigger and you want to fit in, it's just that simple.
2) You will be inspired to convert meat eaters to vegetarians because your ultimate loving and respect for nature will awaken other people.

I'm not trying to mass hypnothise everyone on this board or condemn them because they still eat meat. I just want to give you all some good advice .

yes i do feel guilty sometimes. Actually i was going to cut out meat but was told it wasnt a good time to start with being pregnant, plus i have a low red blood count at the moment.
I dont eat much mainly chicken and sometimes fish i find red meat too exspensive.
Maybe i will try again when this baby is born. Its not east though when everyone else in the house eats meat and you have to cook for them. Theres no chance of them giving up meat and its not up to me to make them. I think its up to the individual to decide for themselves.

Theres no chance of them giving up meat and its not up to me to make them. I think its up to the individual to decide for themselves. That's absolutely true, it's a choice you make for yourself.

If I were you I wouldn't cut out meat at all right now and even when your baby arrives, keep eating meat for some time as your body will need it & even if you decide to stop eating meat at all. You don't have to force the rest of the family, do you?

There are ways to get people on the "better" path, if you want to inspire your family, just come to an agreement. Like for instance: every single day of the week except Saturday we will eat meat. It's just a matter of coming to a conclusion everyone is happy with.

If you do come to an agreement like this one and they are like starting to like Saturday more than the other days of the week (believe it or not, eating something vegetarian gives you a feeling of "wOw, I do make the difference! & so on and on..") you can then turn to a 50/50 system of vegetarian/meat foods throughout the week. By the end of the year I don't know, but that's a lot of chickensouls that you have saved I guess? Do the math for yourself .

ok, in all honesty here folks.....Please do not be offended......

I eat a well balanced meal or meat veggies etc.

And I have NEVER once felt guilty about it.....because we are supposed to eat meat....our bodies need it......

You don't see Loins feeling guilty for eating antilope....so why should we feel bad for be what we eat????

It is the circle of life and death and there is nothing wrong with it.....

Please do not think that I do not understand why you are veggies, It is because you feel sorry for how we treat animals...and on that level i agree that our policies on animal abuse has to change but also Loins do not say Mr. antelope I'm going to put you to sleep and then eat you....I'm sorry for this but I'm starving....lol.....absolutely silly, huh????

Please do not be angry and please do not judge me an animal hater.....Please do not take anythink I say personally It is just my opinion.....

Blessed be all life in all forms.....

Sincerely,
Ginger

my dad is a butcher hehe so i have grown up around meat most of my life hehe i dont eat so much now than i used to, but i think its good so i eat it. I dont feel guilty about eating an animal, as long as it wasnt tortured before it was killed and as long as its life wasnt wasted. If i dont eat enough meat then i dont get enough iron and then i get really dizzy, im an omnivore so i have to eat it hehe
so i dont really feel guilty about eating meat, i dont think my cat is either.

Thanks Thursday for not being one of those vegetarians that preach, it makes a nice change for a vegetarian to actually tell you to eat meat if its for your best interest at the moment. We dont eat meat everyday i would say around 4 times a week, one day we have a cheese pizza or toasties another we have fish (i know fish is classed as meat but i think fish is an essential part of your diet. Somedays i have an omlete, i love eggs and cheese so i could never become a vegan i would starve. I dont really know many vegetarian dishes, i did try soya once and hated it. Any recipe ideas would be welcome.
