i just though i would start a thread that could mutually benefit anyone who seeks to first identify the ego
![]() ![]() to me the ego is the form that takes place when an entity abuses it's own free will. releasing the ego spells an end to the abuse. total identification with this form, on the other hand, spells the suppression of the higher-self. embracing the moment, accepting the present, and being one with the now suppresses the ego allowing space for what is. the ego's past and future loves to suppress the present, because the past has all it's stories of me me me look what i have done and the future is full of expectations "you watch, you'll see what i'm going to do". only the present moment is rejected by the ego "i don't want this i'm not complete yet, give me more time to complete my-self". the ego is simply a thought-form that lives in the residue of past emotions and in the energy wastefully projected into a future revolved around a selfish me me me. to me the ego is what it is, it is to be recognized, used/abused/respected(which ever approach you choose), then reconciled with and finally put to rest either willfully and gradually, or shockingly and stressfully, the "choice" is ours. accepting the emergence of our consciousness gradually, or be forced into a high speed race when the moment of truth arrives.....what do you guys think?.....sylvain..... |

it can also be desribed as a materialistically induced selfish separation of an appearance from its purpose. meaning that our being, the (appearance), when separated from it's purpose, gives rise to the ego. on the other hand, when a being projects it's purpose with harmony, the ego subsides..........sylvain.........

the ego isn't bad, just scared. it has a job to do. if we had no ego, there would be no need for reincarnation and us progressing as beings, because we would not be beings in the first place. i think of the ego as a bubble, like a membrane around a cell. the ego needs to expand, or become more permeable, or something. it's too small and tight.
when spiritual development goes well, the ego recedes. it should not be allowed to run the show, but when the master's away, the mice will play. |

well to quote ra on the subject:
taken from session 15 of the law of one january 30, 1981. questioner: am i correct to assume that one of the blockages of the mind/body/spirit complex might be, shall we say, ego, and this could be balanced using a worthiness/unworthiness balance. am i correct? ra: i am ra. this is incorrect. questioner: can you tell me how you balance the ego? ra: i am ra. we cannot work with this concept as it is misapplied and understanding cannot come from it. |

i like ra's answer better than my own answer. lol what i tend to wonder if we over intellectualise these things. sometimes just doing your meditations, loving unconditionally and clearing that cluttered mind while helping others do the same seems enough. any attempt to understand on a intellectual level just seems to trip me up. but then again i'm not a very practically intellegent person so i'm bound to say that ![]() =deva= |

exactly! session 16 of the law of one january 31, 1981 questioner: i am assuming that it is not necessary for an individual to understand the law of one to go from the third to the fourth density. is this correct? ra: i am ra. it is absolutely necessary that an entity consciously realize it does not understand in order for it to be harvestable. understanding is not of this density. |

"understanding is not of this density." probably why people are so on guard about this subject. rightfully so. |

ra: i am ra. it is absolutely necessary that an entity consciously realize it does not understand in order for it to be harvestable. understanding is not of this density. well folks, this does indeed raise an eyebrow
![]() this is definitely touchy and can serve very well in raising the veil. another word for understanding, as we know, is unconditional love. many in this density have come to grips with this concept, simply knowing that it exists and somehow allowing it to clarify our overall perspective. ra was speaking on behalf of entities that were being introduced to this for the very first time, native 3rd density beings, who are rightfully cautious about which steps to take along their path. as wanderers, and that's most of us here, we seem to remember bits and pieces of this process and most of us are very capable of re-assimilating in due time and then radiate understanding. in other words, seeds can be made available but the sowing can always wait for 4th density or higher. remember...harvest is a doorway to infinite possibilities ![]() ego serves a great purpose as it helps in holding us back if we are not ready, it seems like, in seeking control, it is more than happy to oblige and make catalyst available for growth and to further satisfy. jmho ![]() |

understanding may not be of this density, but "have faith" is the biggest weapon used by people who expect you to trust their understanding over your own, right before they abuse that trust for their own gain. luke skywalker once asked yoda before going into a cave "what is in there?" to which yoda replied... "only what you bring in there." that has always struck me as true in any situation, any place and any time the only thing that is there is what you have brought there. he also said.. fear leads to anger leads to hatred leads to suffering. the causality is clear enough not to require credentials. how quaint that we need a puppet to remind us. we must have faith, yes, but not in other people. in the small i, your persona. but also in the larger i, the human race. and the largest i, the whole. |

my exaggerated jupiterian exclamation was a comment to kundalinis post about ra stating that understanding not is of this density. i have an obsession with understanding and analyzing.....
...but then silvanus says that understanding means unconditional love ![]() ...i don't understand..unconditional love is not for 3d...now i remember, it's for 4d...never mind ![]() transiten |

what is “ego?”
ever since i meandered out of the faithful fold of fanatical fundamentalists (ffff) as a young adult in my early 20’s, i have heard hundreds – possibly thousands – of mentions of the term “ego.” usually the context of the word gives a clue as to its intended meaning as something that interferes with the divine flow of energies via excess focus on one’s own individual existence. i have been warned about the dangers of “ego” by gentle, well-intentioned elderly ladies. i have been lectured to about the dangers of “ego” by ranks of finger-waving young braves looking for new spiritual turf to conquer. i have been coaxed, cajoled, counseled, nearly cop-up-ulated, about the deep, dire, risks of that ugly monster – ego. and i always wondered, “why?” i usually don’t bother people. i go out of my way to be helpful if i can. if i can’t help a person, i make a deliberate effort to respect their boundaries. i never want to be like the boy scout who boasted of taking all afternoon helping one little old lady across the street. when his fellow boy scout asked him incredulously why it took all afternoon to help one little old lady across the street, he answered indignantly: “because she didn’t want to go!” so, why me? what is it about me that seems to draw these perpetual warnings, these glares, these stern lectures, these dire promises about what horrible things will happen to the universe and all that dwells therein, *if* i fail to get my ego removed henceforth and put out of everybody else’s way? and, as the great philosopher and singer frank zappa once phrased the great question of the ages: “who are those poots in the back seat of calvin’s car?” well, i don’t know who the poots are, and i cannot seem to find my own ego to go get it removed. i can’t even find a surgeon in the yellow pages who advertises “egos removed cheaply.” the closest i came was when i hand made a skinning knife as a graduation present for a friend who was finishing medical school. it had a very slight bend in the blade, because i had made it from a car spring. rather than try to forge it out (because i didn’t have a forge at the time), i just named it “twisted ego remover.” (my friend is studying to be a psychiatrist. he enjoyed the joke.) i first heard the word “ego” in sunday school class, around 1959 or so. i had used the word “conceited,” and a classmate was not to be outdone, so he hurled the word “ego” right back at me. later i studied about “ego” as an undergraduate psychology major. it was a term chosen by the late great sigmund freud, pioneer of neurology and psychiatry, as a term to distinguish the aware-self from the two unaware-selves, the unconscious and the preconscious. i never knew how this term slipped all by itself alone into new age circles without bring its two pals “preconscious” and “unconscious” along with it. i suppose it was just such a maverick, such a han solo act, that it wanted to go all by itself. when the term “ego” refused the companionship of its two buddy terms “preconscious” and “unconscious,” it lost a great deal of its meaning. what, after all, is an aware-self, without an unaware-self to compare it to? what is a goose without a sky to fly in? what is a fish, without a sea in which to swim? and again, the greatest most nagging question of all – who are those poots in the back seat of calvin’s car? c’mon, guys, we really need to know! i’m not sure i can go on otherwise! [sigh] my team of guardian angels, good as they are at protecting me, fall down on the job when it comes to retrieving all the key information i need from the akashic library up on the 7th floor. but seriously, what is “ego?” it is simply an awareness of our individual selves. now some folks would seem to have me believe that i absolutely must give up all awareness of myself as an individual. it would be handy, i admit. when the power bill comes, i just call up the power company and say, “i don’t know where you got this misconception, but i am not an individual. i am part of the divine collective. please send the next bill to the divine collective. what do you mean, “what address?” i don’t know! how am i supposed to know?! you obviously have a big problem with your ego!” then i would get to enjoy the same bit of fun all over again when the big yellow truck came to turn my power off. i mean, the fun would never end. there’s the water bill, the cable bill … and think of the fun i could have as a surgeon. i get called up before the committee again, and these guys in $1800 suits demand to know, “doctor, why did you amputate that patient’s right leg, when the problem was in his liver?” and i could twirl my coffee stirrer gleefully as i enlightened them all by saying the famous words: “it does not matter. everything is one anyway. which only goes to prove, gentlemen, that each of you has a big problem with your ego!” then once again, i would get to enjoy the same great piece of fun all over again when they came to take my license off my wall and toss it in the shredder. what colossal entertainment it would all be! unfortunately, there is this nagging little thing called “reality on the earth plane.” let me explain it. it is analogous to the colors of the rainbow. there are seven of them. they are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. yet they are all one – together, they are white light. now let’s just say for the sake of argument that you are homer simpson, and that you work in the local nuclear power plant. yet unlike the *real* homer, you are enlightened. so when the training coordinator says to you, “never push the yellow button unless ….” you smile inwardly as you congratulate yourself on your esoteric knowledge …. there is no yellow button … all the colors are one, so ergo all the buttons are one … and you sit back, confident in the full awareness of truth. “so ms. white,” the reporters ask, “tell us once again – why did you push the yellow button and blow up half of the east coast? our newspaper offices are no longer in existence, but we still would like to know just for our own curiosity …” here is a simple fact. everything is literally one – up in the highest realms of existence where you cannot take your brain, you wallet, and no, not even your visa card. they melt and run together if you try, and you end up with donald trump’s monthly maintenance fees, and then you get sent back to earth to try it all over again. separateness does not exist on those planes. all light is pure white. likewise, total unity does not exist on this plane. even when earth has fully healed, and we are all in unity of heart, mind, and spirit, we will still walk indifferent physical bodies. we will think each with our own brains. and we will each have our own visa monthly maintenance fees – thank the angels. as long as we are walking here on this planet with two feet – remember, i said “two feet,” not “two-feet-in-one” – that is called a “three-legged race,” and they will do it again at the county fair next fall – there will be separateness. call it illusion if you like. you will still have to deal with it, if you want to live on this planet. once you are ready to leave, you can leave everything behind and become one with everything again, like the hot dog prepared by the great yogi swaminderiverofmadness. (his customer had said, “make me one with everything,” you see, and then the yogi …. oh, never mind.) in short, you are a separate being for as long as you live on planet earth. consequently, you have a pressing, driving need to keep this thing we call “ego.” freud understood that. jung understood that. even psychologists today sometimes still talk about the need for “ego strength” in order to function in human form on the planet. they know what happens when there is not enough ego strength – people fall apart, and they go floating down the rain-filled gutter in little tiny pieces, each one singing a different verse to “the wheels on the bus go round and round ….” not a pretty sight. i developed the habit, many long years ago, of replying the same way whenever i chance to meet up with another version of the finger-waving, brave-whooping, or gently-teaching self-made guru who warns me about the dire dangers of “ego,” in the same manner and tone of voice that my sunday school teacher used to warn me about the dire dangers of sex, and the doctors now warn me about the dire dangers of smoking tobacco and eating mcdonald’s evil french fried p’taters, as the sling blade man called them in that delightful movie about the joys of saving children and widows from predators. i ask, “what do you mean?” it’ s been twenty long years now since i began that habit. to date, no one yet has answered me. be fine – align your human ego with the divine. have you hugged your ego today? an ego in time saves nine. beware of the boy who cried “ego!” without egos, there would be no hugs. i’m thinking up bumper stickers for the next time i run for president. how d’yall like ‘em? any orders?? love, rainbow light, and ego-filled hugs, deerclan |

the ego is the thing that enables you to function in 3d. without ego you cease to be able to accomplish your desires or fail to implement the conventions sanctioned by 3d society.
she is what she is. not an enemy not a friend. just a body part. if she acts in ways that stop you from releasing negative patterns. then that is because you do not believe in the alternatives. she only executes your commands. the ego is not in command. at best she is auto pilot. it gets shut off immediately when you take the wheel. if it feels otherwise. then that's because you keep telling it that that is the way it is. when you decide the ego is the enemy to be conquered. then in effect the ego decides it should conquer a mental image of itself. like a hand wrestling what it imagines to be itself. will that work? generally? no... the ego is your friend. you don't need to defeat it.. ego decided it should defeat itself and invests energy in this. just get into that dialogue. stop fighting. befriend your ego. communicate! what is the essence of 2012? unity right? how can we expect unity if we cannot even be one with ourselves? the fact that you're expending a lot of energy fighting something does not mean you're winning. in fact it's always a sign that you're busy fighting yourself with or without help from people to project your demons on... enjoy... |
