Default E1B's Mini OBE
Hi, CF. Would you comment on this? (Didn't deserve it's own topic, don't reckon).
I do, my topic is long enough as it is.- CF.

Was this a little OBE?

I'm sitting on the side of the bed smoking my pipe. I'm fascinated with the reflection of the red glow of the coal as I draw on it in the panes of the french doors across the room. Then it occurs to me, I’m asleep - well, I’m both.

I try to hang on to this superposition of awake and asleep - phasing I guess. So, I think, my body’s still asleep so let’s try to roll out. Wait, am I going to hurt my cat, I’ll have to roll over him? Maybe the rope? Then I realize I’m already awake, too late.

I don’t know guys, it was a different experience than I’ve ever had before. But it was RTZ, exactly my bedroom. I think I was close anyway.

It's hard to say- you sometimes become lucid when waking up, so it's not unheard of to have dual awareness at that time- and then you wake up.

Yes, but I'll never forget just how that felt - the proximity. If I imagine I was OB, doing what I always do when I wake up - sit on the edge of the bed (futon in this case in the den) light my pipe. But it was a little surreal - the coal in the pipe was brighter, bigger - the reflection was "playful" (does that make any sense) in such a way as it struck me as odd which then brought me to the recognition that it wasn't in the physical. Surprise And my body was right there with me.

About light - there was light in the room but the room was in fact dark

Hope I get another shot at a similar occurrance.

Richard

p.s. sorry for hijacking your thread - I've a bit to learn about board etiquette.

Tutor, did CF delete your post form this thread about some 'great ego' about board ettiquete?
I lost it somehow - had a great reply. Maybe it's somewhere Traveler-else?

I didn't delete it- he must have, you should know by now that he deletes everything he writes unless I lock it. Usually he leaves a where the thread used to be. If the threads get too long, I go ahead and delete the empty space. But not this time.

What do we call this?

It seems I roam the house during the night on a fairly frequent basis. For example; I got up the other morning and wandered over to a bookcase where I have an old piece of glass I'm planning on working into a little art object. I was glad to find it was ok because I remembered distinctly that I had dropped it and broken it.

And on another occasion I remembered a cat I hadn't seen in many weeks had come in the house which was bad news because I'll have to get rid of him if he does (he urinates on everything). Again, this was a false memory.

The 'little OBE' got me wondering along these lines and it doesn't surprise me if I have a regular habit of 'getting up' during the night, out of body, and wandering around. All I'm really lacking is a signal of some sort that would alert me to the situation. If I could just realize I was OB, I could start some explorations from there.

What do you think?

I wondered this two days ago:

PS - I wonder how many people gained consciousness out-of-body, went to the toilet because they couldn't quite remember why they were up and went back to sleep because they never noticed the slightest discrepancy between their bedroom while awake and while asleep.

Dang ya', gonna' have to hang ya', Tim. You know too much.

But really, this new encountered 'retirement' has given me quite an un-jolt. Lately going to sleep I picture being a crew-mate on 'the Ancient Mariner's' three-masted tall-ship going nowhere, stuck seemingly forever in the tropical doldrums.

But how did you get from point A, wandering the house OB, to point B, the ein soph and living again? Sometimes you do amaze me.

And too often you kill me softly with your words.

Query: Do you actually live the life you expound so poetically - carpe diem? or do you more - carpe verbum? Does your philosophy translate to your work-a-day life and if so, might you still have some sympathy for an ignorant fool like me?

Richard

[and I got your pm's like empty boxes - dang ya']

Things that go bump in the night...

This goes in the category of misc. or "Out of Topic" but just to keep my stuff together I'll put here for later possible reference. Unexplained noises may simply be unexplained and not in the least bit mystical or supernatural...

About 1:30 a.m. I was jolted awake by a loud slamming sound - sounded like the toilet seat and lid slamming down on the stool - a fairly unique sound. I was startled by it as it seemed to originate right there with me in the bedroom. Naturally, I got up and looked in the bathroom, but the seat and lid were in their usual upright position. (So wrong, girls, I know ).

I went back to bed just a little perplexed - spooked maybe a little. Then a few hours later I hear a door slam which again startles me awake. It was the porch door, the one I use for access. So I got up and checked it - it was actually shut, which is not it's usual position as I generally leave it open for a bit of a draft. Then it occurred to me I recently acquired something worth stealing and went to check that my Buddha was safe. All is well.

Living with cats means living with bumps in the night, and I am accustomed to that, but these two deserve mention.

2006, I was living in my apartment alone. Whenever I would do trance training I would hear loud noises as if my neighbours are moving furniture. It later occurred to me that my neighbours would be oddly well-timed if they managed to do this only when I was doing trance training and never else. I already knew about the phenomenon of astral noise but never made the connection before that.

States of trance are experienced also through various stages of sleep, but like if you don't do trance training you usually don't recognise them. An increase in lucidity or being closer to that can lead to just the same experience during sleep I imagine. In the same sense astral noise then can unnerve or startle you.

The clue is that the sounds seem to come from the room (I experienced laughter coming from within my dorm room in 2005 with only me being there during an etheric OBE, but I only made the connection later) and linking the noise to sources which couldn't produce the sound.

So, this is actually an aptly placed post, as the state you experienced relates to phenomena experienced during trance.

Cheers,
Oliver

Last night in Kentucky, following hours of short readings + contemplative inner study/listening (skipping), I layed down at 2:48 am to the sounds of the unison of voices lowly chanting a short verse of words round and round. this went on for about ten minutes.
I am well familiar with the chanting, often wondered if a stero somewhere wasn't to blame. It's difficult to make out the words, their sylables being drawn out over many notes. I've listened for many hours to Gregorian and Tibetan chants (for real) and suppose that memory has something to do with the phenomenon. But phenomenon it is and I think it's a choir of angels, cliche or not - the real thing.

I so hope your wife (may she have at least a letter for a name) had a Divine visit. I think the evidence is conclusive - the treatment of the two of you simultaneously. Now I'm really quite certain of it. Look forward to the Aurora, my friend, make it so, please, so it may be.

This is why I stay away from healing, I fall to my knees and tremble at the Powers that are humbly petitioned for the well being of mortals. It just raises to many unanswerable questions for me and I'm just too confused so I don't try to help people and their physical health. But if ever I could... well, for whatever it's worth; I got your back.

Umm, Tim? a simple thanks somewhere in the mix might have been nice. I have talents I have yet to understand and were it not for your pile of verbiage I might be able, innocently, to help.

And so I say, with a spit in the dirt, I'm on your side and that might not be so little bit of muscle. I only wish you could accept my compassion with an open mind - I do truly care.

Richard

Excuse me, Tim. I'm must have lost my marbles - no thanks required. What a silly idea. I just wish you the best and would have deleted this arrogance but don't seem to have option

See ya' later, and really hope the best for you and Sherry.

More 'false memories'. Sometimes I'm not sure if something really occurred or if it was just 'dream life'.

The darn 'possum was back the other night, making a racket in the kitchen (I had forgotten to shut the pet door - again). I got up but he won't scare away so I just went back to bed. Then I saw a whole family of 'possums in the kitchen - a big one, two smaller ones and some little babies.

This did not happen - there is only one small 'possum. But I swear the whole family was in the kitchen - or at least my memory does. I've been thinking about putting signs up around the house and training myself to know that if I see the sign - I'm dreaming. Not sure how that'd work, though.
