Default My Spontaneous OBE's
Ever since I read Journeys Out of the Body as kid, I've wanted to be able to do it and over the years I had a few spontaneous ones and only one conscious one. One spontaneous OBE happened one sunday morning. I had been asleep and must have heard a distant noise, as I half woke up but not fully - I just awoke to that borderline place, what I call astral awakening. I thought that someone was knocking on my back door so I thought to myself "I'd better go and see who that is". I was immediately downstairs in my living room, looking out of the window to check if anyone was there - they weren't. Seeing no one there I stepped back into the middle of the room, raised my arms above my head and just shot up through the floor, up to my bedroom ceiling above my body and dove down and into my body in the middle of my chest. My awareness then down to my feet, then turned and back up to my head and with an audible 'click' I was back in and woke up.

I've also astrally woken during the night on a few occasions, to find myself sitting up out of my body, or a couple of times, talking to spirits whilst sitting there.

The only time I did it consciously was again a bit of a fluke. I'd had an afternoon nap and for some reason woke up to the borderline between wakefulness and sleeping. I was consciously aware that I'd reached this borderline because I thought to myself "oh, I'm here at the borderline, I wonder if..........................?" and before I'd even finished the sentance I was out like a bullet from a gun. I tumbled over in mid air and ended up facing back towards my body and I thought I was falling out of bed and braced myself for the thump as I hit the floor, but it never came. I then realised what had happened and emotion got the better of me and I thought "oh yippee I've done it, whoopee" and of course that brought me right back in immediately.

Being used to meditation and slightly altered states of consciousness, I am often aware of a feeling that my body isn't 'on' quite right, like when you have your shirt a bit twisted around and it's not sitting comfortably on your body. I've always believed that this is due to my meditative state and shows that my astral body has been allowed to loosen slightly. I also get feelings sometimes when I'm lying in bed, eyes closed, that my head is looking 'the other way' than it really is, or that my arms are in different positions that they really are. I often get a weird sensation that feels like my arms have been put on 'the wrong way around', but if I raise my level of concsiousness, it goes away so it must be a sort of astral loosening or partial astral loosening.

Or am I just bonkers?

No, you're not bonkers. Loosening does happen especially after long periods of meditation. I have a couple of links around in which others have gone through this experience and even had trouble reintegrating. I'll see if I can find them now.

Here's one: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7221&p=57586#p57586
It's indexed to go to the specific post, as it's a very long thread.
