Default Traveling long distances via intent...
It seems like everytime I try to go anywhere when I am in the RTZ I either don't go anywhere, I find myself back in my body or I end up somewhere random but still in the RTZ.
I would like to start exploring the astral but can't seem to get there, anyone have any suggestions? How would I go about going anywhere either the RTZ or astral? I close my eyes and try to visualize where I want to go but it never works.

Monroe and Leland report that it is easiest to go to someone - following their "indent". An indent is related to the essence of a person or a place. Persons and places you know work best. So, if you haven't "been to places" you have an hen-egg problem.

A radical solution would be to try to go to a deceased friend or relative. You know their ident, and might be transported there. This depends on whether you are able to go to the right state of consciousness and perceive things there, but might be worth a try - if the idea has any appeal to you.

A less radical approach would be to use "the usual tricks". Try to pass through or enter a picture on the wall - what Robert calls a "virtual reality" projection. Should lead to the astral. Or try to aim for the stars.

Have you asked for guidance or help? Monroe's adventures took a totally different turn when he put his navigation "on auto" and let guidance decide where to go.

- Try asking your guide for assistance
- Robert says when you’re in the RTZ and you desire to go to the astral look at your hands until they melt
- I have gotten to a particular destination by saying “I want to go to ___” you have to want to get there with all your heart, and your arrival will be instantaneous

A few things: I've noticed (and Robert confirms it theoretically) that most RTZ projections are best done around your area- that any RTZ projection that appears to be very far from where you are is actually an astral projection, and I tend to agree. So I do think that physical proximity has to do with the reliability of an RTZ projection, and I have personally gotten lost when trying to fly away and cross the ocean. Ended up needing guides to take me there.
Now, I have seen many techniques to go astral, (although I don't recall Robert saying that looking at your hands somehow transports you to the astral, that's a new one for me) so I'll just repeat them and list them to see if any seems easier than others:
1- Fly up in the air as fast as you can. I mean fast. When you end up in space, do one of these:
a-Look at the stars, pick one and fly there. You'll end up in an astral environment.
b-Look behind/under you, to where the earth should be. You may see an astral plane (such as the picture in Robert's book). Fly towards it, pick one of the cubes/squares on the grid, that's one.
2-Look around your room. See if there's any anomalies, like a door or window that shouldn't be there. Go through it. It's a portal.
3- Same as two, but look for vortexes/light tunnels and go into them. It's a 'wormhole' to the astral.
4-Go to a mirror and try to go through. If you get bounced, it may 'skip' you to another region in the RTZ, or to a virtual reality projection, or directly to the astral. It's hard to tell which you went to until you come back and analyze the experience.
5- This one isn't from RTZ to astral, but it's directly to the astral: Phasing. There's a 'how-to' thread in the OBE research & discussion subforum.

I have been starting to think that I don't have guides. I might try calling my higher self.
When I fly upwards I have problems getting further after a certain point. My flying usually slows down the higher I get.
If I put my exploration on "autopilot" can I choose to trigger that at any point during my journey? Does this happen instantaneously or do I have to wait around? How do I know that it started?
I'm definitely going to try out looking to the floor, or the reality distortion portals, that sounds interesting.
Thanks guys. I will keep you posted.

To tell you the truth, that's never worked for me. When I first read his book I tried it for vision and other things. Maybe it's the way my mind works (and if you've read my posts, you know this about me) I question and second-guess everything. To make this work, you have to 'know' it will.

I tried it and it did not work either. It seems to be hit-or-miss for whom it works and for whom not.

hey Matt, i had an interesting experience a while back - got OOB, intended to visit my ex-girlfriend, who i'd gotten interested in all that's astral, i wanted to see if i could communicate with her.
as soon as i thought of going to her, i started moving very quickly, and ended up somewhere very familiar.
not at her place, but at the home of my very first girlfriend, from many years ago.
i met her there outside the house, and then tried again to get to my ex, this time adding her location, including her town, street name and number to my intention.
i immediately moved directly to her house.
so i think that often it's a matter of details, specific to the individual.
i hope that's helpful.

I think that the HS has something to say about who you go visit too.
Years ago (before I was married) I had broken up with a boyfriend and was pining for him. Soon I found myself (not on purpose) in his bedroom, and he wasn't alone. It was horrible and factual. Years later, the only time I've been able to visit someone I wanted to consciously was by asking for help from guides to get there. Otherwise I overshoot or can't find the place.

.When I fly upwards I have problems getting further after a certain point. My flying usually slows down the higher I get.
From my experiences, flying thru the sky, leaving ground to space, is so tricky, if your will is stronger then your abilities - you can end up so far... then Earth and Sun isn't visible anymore, you can feel so "hi" (fear of height and feeling alone in the middle of nowhere...). They could be psychological blockings regarding heights, or distances.

In my experience, I drive a multi-supersonic-rocket. But I can imagine that doing it in (to the sky), even at high speed, will give the impression, somehow with distance and loss of reference points, that you're not moving anymore, or you are slowing down. This is due (physically) by the absence of reference points. At 20 thousands km per hours, it takes a really long time to reach a planet, even speed of light could seems slow, meaning that without use of "though instenticity using reference points" - we could experience altered "altered distance judgment" - and that could mess up as well other mechanism of sights (or the whole experience) as well...

What is your experience with travelling in this physical body-flesh plane (on the ground and in the air)?

When I get to try out space travel, I'll post back on the thread. Travelling at the speed of thought should make the journey interesting.
