Okay, so I've got his vision screen up and going, and I've just now been able to confirm it's working properly. It flashes pictures at me, for a split second, and I write down what it showed me. So far the pictures it shows me do turn up in real life, but here's the deal: It's just not like described in the books.
First off, I'm not seeing a big white square, like a movie screen, where the pictures are shown. Instead, they're floating around suspended in blackness. And second, I can't sit there and watch it roll like a movie. It seems to be just a flash, only a second, or a few seconds. Of course, this is just now kicking in, so maybe in some time it will straighten out and the pictures will last longer? I think it may be partly my fault, because when I see one it startles the hell out of me, and then I can't relax and just watch. |

It's interesting how different people experience these things in slighly different ways. The few times I've tried this I haven't seen a screen at all, just a still image that was quickly validated within a day. I didn't know anything about vision screens at the time and I haven't made much effort since then so I'm not much good to you really.

I imagine it'll be a bit like OBE, once you're used to it it won't startle you and you'll exercise greater control. |

It was like that for me too. Images would just fly by, one after another, surrounded by darkness.
Maybe you already know this, but here's something really, really interesting. Have you tried pulling ourself into the image you were seeing? It can be done. I did it on a couple of occasions, and I found myself inside the scene I was watching. It felt like everyday life was going on around me. There were people around, normal people, nothing special. I gave it up eventually. It made no difference to me whether I was living this life or another one. It's all the same in the end, but it was really interesting to experience it. |

elendal, that does sound like you "phased". It felt like consciously falling asleep, like something suddenly shifted inside of me. Very specific feeling. "Phasing" is also a good description. --- Just as a side note, has anyone read "The Chronicles of Amber" from Roger Zelazny? A great piece of sci-fi. They have these trump cards. When you focus on the image on the card, it pulls you in. Sort of reminded me of that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chronicles_of_Amber (look under The Amber Multiverse) |

Yup, that description sounds a lot like it. The only real difference was that I wasn't a point of consciousness. I had a physical body that I could feel. Or maybe it was someone else's body? Guess I'll never know, since I don't do it anymore.
There are much more interesting things out there - these lives we live, this everyday world we live in, they are much stranger then I ever thought. |

I just want to add one more thing: I sometimes get flashing views, sometimes rolling views. Sometimes look like a movie screen, sometimes look like 'being there'. I think it has a lot to do with the frequency of the brainwaves. (Just a theory.)
I also think this is completely different (i.e. that we're using a different sense) than astral sight, but that's for another thread. |

If I may jump in - this is so interesting to me, because for years I've had the experience of having a "lense" open up against a black backdrop, & I watch as an extreme;y detailed, clear & vibrant scene unfolds - usually nothing very strange, just beautiful scenery, flowers, grass & sand, recently a more odd sort of view of geometric shapes seen 'from the inside looking out" & once a view from the inside looking out of a tomb . . . I always enjoy them but think of them as illusions. I can't really say that I've ever seen them again in "real life:, though.
