Default Paralyisis?
The other morning I woke up and felt very strange...I felt like it was me yet not me in control of my body...It was almost like dual awareness I guess

My mind was fully concious but very fuzzy and slow and my body was just kind of there...like a shell
Several times I touched my body and I could feel it but it still didn't feel like me...almost a far away feeling. I tried several different movements but it was almost like my body was fighting me. I have never had this before although I have had waking paralysis before but this was quite scary
I would say it lasted a good 5-10 minutes until I was able to fall asleep again.
It almost seemed like someone else was in control of me, yet I know there wasn't another presence there...
I guess I am wondering if this could this have been a type of waking paralysis or something else and why it lasted so long?

I think it was waking parlysis. Sometimes even after you break the full body paralyzation, the heaviness and grogginess can last. I used to feel that way some mornings, too.

The reason you felt like your body was 'empty' was probably because your etheric body was expanding and it took a while for it to shrink.

As for the feeling of a presence, many people in waking paralysis get the "Dweller on the Threshold" feeling.

Peace.

Scott

Thank you for the reply

It was quite frightening and alarming as it lasted much longer than any other episode I have had before

Is there a faster, easier way to snap out of it do you think, rather than waiting it out? Should it happen again I mean

It was not a pleasant feeling at all

Well, in cases where it lasts longer than usual, I usually do something like jumping jacks or push ups to get rid of the empty day dream feeling. Ask God or Jesus to rid you of this feeling and it usually goes away...

Trying to feel and move the right big toe is often said to alleviate or break sleep paralysis.

Also see AD-Pedia on "Paralysis": http://forums.astraldynamics.com/viewtopic.php?t=8159

Take good care,

That's a perfect state, especially in the context of this post. Use a separation technique and EXIT, your body is already asleep.

If you do want to miss this opportunity, and really wake your body up, notice that your face is not paralyzed. Smile

Just one more thing to add: Sometimes when I sleep a full night sleep and then project, my body tends to go into a coma-like state where I have multiple projections (go out, do stuff, come back, get out again). If I really abuse this state I go into some sort of 'slippery state' where I'm totally bilocating even if in my body- sort of like trying to balance yourself on a slippery surface with your butt (the best way I have to describe it) when this happens after I've successfully reintegrated my body feels like rubber and it takes a long time to regain full control of it (and lots of coffee to wake up!) But those are the best projections. And I always come back.

Thanks again for the replies

I never thought to try an exit technique

I was too busy trying to figure out what was happening

I've seen it posted elsewhere... but some people look at sleep paralysis as a gift because they can spring board it to OBE. The technique I've seen mentioned is to do some extensive lung-expanding deep breathing, which either pops you OOB (perhaps if you imagine yourself taking in a lot of energy as you breathe in) or brings you awake. I've also seen debates about SP only being helpful to OBE in that you are simply calling back your astral body which is already out, and going out again for another stroll, but only retaining the 2nd memory (vs. it being helpful because it puts you in a pre-OBE state and you have one OBE after that only). Either way I like the idea of turning sleep paralysis episodes into a positive.

Sleep paralysis can be pretty scary. I had an SP incident where parts of my body were cramping and I could tell that I was grimacing in reaction to the pain, but I couldn't feel either the pain or the muscles in my face at all... it was very uncomfortable! I felt like I was under 40 ft of water and struggling to claw my way to the surface but I couldn't move. Eep!

Yikes!

I had an episode once where I opened my eyes and could see my room, but there were images superimposed over top
I saw a hand reaching for my face, triangles on the roof and stars everywhere...as well I heard a loud metallic clanging sound...but I couldn't move for at least a minute
It took me awhile to come back to reality and was pretty frightening

Unfortunately, that's one of those things you have to get used to when you try to project. The trick is to get past them and go for it anyway. This may sound unbelievable, but the first time you do it takes a lot of the fear away, and eventually you do get used to it. (Really.)
