I heard some astral noises the other day. It was really kind of creepy. How can I keep these from distracting me as ultimatly I came out of my trance state because of it. I felt like a radio tuning in and out these awful sounds. They were like chains grinding right outside my window. I also heard wispering. It was backdropped by static. I feel that if I let them get the best of me, and I quit what I am doing, than the negs have won, (I assume this is neg related), so how can I overcome the fear?

Just like pictures appear as you dwelve into trance, sounds will be heard. You might even start feeling like you're falling or spinning, when your sense of balance is thrown off. You might feel like you're extremely light or that you're sleeping in a giant jar of cotton balls.
These "hallucinations" should not be feared, they are a great sign that you are getting close to your goal. Most people experience them when they put themselves into a trance, it's really just a matter of getting used to. Once they don't startle you anymore, you can work on following them just like you would follow the beginning of a dream, dwelve deeper and deeper into trance until you reach a state of sleep paralysis, and try to exit your body. |

During AP attempts I often hear creaking in my room sometimes it comes from my T.V remote other times, from my window or the corner of my room. Also I often hear the other standard "Astral Noises" but tend to ignore them.
Last night I was attempting to AP, I was getting close to exit when my cat came in and jumped on my bed (yes my real cat) however the noises my cat made were very out-of-the ordinary and some of the noises I had never heard before. I don't know if this was due to my trance or if I was hearing my cat from the Astral or from my projected double but it was most definately something new to me. -Astral_Ace |

Haha once my cat decided it was time to "attack" my feet and try to pull me out of bed when I was just about to zone out, and I thought at first "whooooah, these exit sensations really ARE vivid!!!", then I realized of course this was physical plane stuff going on... Haha up to this days, the cats are very intimitely involved with our esoteric practies
![]() The stuff I usually hear is: *My mother or some other person close to me whisper or just chit-chat just out of reach, I can clearly hear the tone in the conversation and the voices, but I can't really make out the words. *Like a strong wind, or static sound *A woman singing - this happens usually just before I move onto other states of consicousness / fall asleep. |

I hear astral sounds occaisionally. Yesterday, as I was preparing for an OBE, I saw two human like figures, except that they had big head and pale skin. They were mumbling, and it sorta freaked me out since I've never had sight and sound simultaneously. I think it was some weird looking neg trying to scare me out of projection, and unfortunately it succeeded.

Astral noises are not necessarily neg-related. As all things astral, it depends, and it can be due to many reasons. Sometimes it can be memories (remembered sounds), things you normally hear but don't notice due to heightened awareness (like the neighbors having a conversation) and just noise the brain throws out at you. I do think you get glimpses of other realities in trance, but it doesn't have to be negs, just two other entities having a conversation that you just became aware of and are now tuning into. Like eavesdropping.
![]() I get more if I make the effort to notice, but I put in 'occasionally' because I don't make the effort that often. |

I've been trying to get past the fear of astral noises ever since I started OBEing. I probably am jumping to conclusions, CF, they probably weren't negs. I just get very frightened most of the time I experience this phenomenon. Three times, two months ago, I heard cchainsaws ripping past my head. This put me off for a while. I just wish I could get over this fear.

I always hear sounds as I am falling asleep but last night was very weird
I was almost asleep when I started getting heavy exit vibrations. I usually pull myself out of them because I am startled but this time I told myself to let it happen. I could hear a bird chirping outside my window but I can't be sure if it was real or not. All of a sudden the chirping melts into this pulsing "whomping" sound that sounded so creepy I got weirded out and came out of it. I never "woke up" but I just drifted off to sleep again. I am wondering if the noises we hear are actual sounds that are distorted by....perhaps our astral ears? If astral sight can be distroted why not sound |

I think astral noises are noises that are either 'physical' or generated by our brains (or distorted by our brain, when it tries to 'interpret' what it hears). The reason that I think so is that we usually hear this when we're 'disengaged' from our bodies but not quite out yet, so we're getting input that's magnified by two sources.
Of course, this is just my opinion, I'm not any kind of expert. |

There's something about birds singing and chirping and radio music. When I'm half-asleep and half awake in the early morning, and I think I'm listening to music on some top 40s radio station, when I listen closely to try and hear which artist/band is playing, I become more awake and the music starts to "stutter". So, I'm fully awake now, and I'm still hearing stuttering radio music, but that's when I realize it's just birds chirping and singing. It's odd how that happens more than once with me. Like, somehow while fully awake, my brain processes birds chirping and singing as just that, but when I'm half-awake and half-asleep, I can hear patterns, like real music having patterns. Maybe because the brain is processing the random sound of birds chirping and singing into something more orderly without me realizing it.
