A movie starring Jodie Foster about her belief and determination to prove that we aren't alone in the universe. She was a SETI scientist. I believe it was adapted from a book by Carl Sagan about a real woman. It went to the movie theaters after Carl Sagan died. At the end, if I remember right, it said, "For Carl". One of my all time favorite movies. I highly recommend it.

Oh, and after she had a close encounter of the third kind, which, of course, no one except her boyfriend believed, she was faced with doubters (from the science world) who mentioned Ockham's Razor.

I wish Berserk could give his opinions without being jumped on by those of opposing views. I agree with the "jumped on" comment, but not so sure on the "oppossing views"- or am I reading this in a wrong way?

Hi Mira, I like that, "niceness police". It's cute, funny, and true. You've certainly been my conscience before. I think you should stand up and say what you think is not right. At the same time, recognize that everybody's idea of "nice" isn't exactly the same. Gentle souls are more easily offended and hurt by certain kinds of behavior. More left-brain driven people are stimulated by a good debate. I'm both. Tough as nails and easily hurt when I believe I've been misunderstood. Speak up, by all means. But, be ok with the person explaining their motivations, because they may not be what they seem. From a personal perspective, I've been told before that I was behaving "thusly", and my motivation was "this". Sometimes the accusation is on the mark, and sometimes it doesn't even sort of resemble what I was thinking when I posted. We've all been accused of things that aren't true before. Or, there is more to the story than appears on a superficial level. AD has some pretty intellectual moderators (not me, I've lost my mind). They are used to debate and like to be engaged in a stimulating discussion. It can come off as "know it all" to someone not used to that kind of banter. And, two intellectual people in a debate, wwhhhoooowwweeee, that can make a lion turn tail and hide.

I invited Berserk to post here after meeting him on another website. While I don't see eye to eye with evereything he says, he has some fascinating stories and his research and comments on Swedenborg are really interesting. He's also a lovely man. I'm looking forward to more of his posts, and even more debates about the merits of what he has to say. I love it when new people come on AD with a fresh new perspective on spirituality and bring more awareness to us all. Maybe you can keep Journyman in line....I sure couldn't. I think you both are terrific.
