I'm sure for different people it is different, but I wonder how long it took some of you guys who can see auras well to learn how.
After a month of practicing I started seeing auras a little bit all of a sudden. Have any of you experienced any of these things: 1) While wearing glasses, I get this rainbow effect on the edges of everything. One edge is reddish-orange-yellow and the other is blue-green, and if I look from a different angle it can reverse sides. 2) Seeing "static" more (kind of like tv static, when it is a little out-of-tune). How long should I practice looking at auras per day? |

Well, I mostly meant, what is minimum amount of time that would be effective practice for seeing auras. It seems like for many skills, after a certain point more practice does not help much. E.g., double the time is not doubly as effective.
As for the rainbow effect wearing glasses, I'm not concerned whether that is the aura or not. I just figure that learning to see the aura makes a person more sensitive other things they did not see with their eyes before either. I have been getting the effect more and more, slowly, as time goes on. If I'm not very new to seeing the aura. I've been practicing for months, on and off. I suppose less often after I started seeing it at all. Occasionally I'll get very dull headaches, they don't bother me at all really, so I'm not concerned about that. You say you spontaneously started seeing auras... do you know or have a theory of how that happened? |

I began to see them around dying people , very ill and angry people spontaneously . I saw red as a type of psychic warning around quiet ragers prone to violence . I saw a snot green gray around the very ill and noticed that the dying aura was cold dark and often black .I feel we can all learn to see auras in time with practice . I prefer to look with the third eye in dim light with the sitter against a dark background .

Hey Painterhypnogirl where was this place in NY? I'm having some trouble with everything; I can barely raise my chakra, its stopped ay my naval. I need to find a good place to go where there are knowledagble people who will actually help with my problems. No one in my area understands what is going on with me, I really need some help. Can you give me any suggestions?

It is known people see auras in different ways. I find it better to look at the 3rd eye of the person concentrating for a while till my angel/guides tell me to close my eyes. I find the colours are so intense when my eyes are closed and you can see the outline of the person perfectly with the areas and colours of their energy. Aura colours on people can change different days.

That place looks interesting, I've been to The Monroe Institute already and it was a great experience; I want to go back because the first time is just preliminary, and next time you can decide on the more specific stuff. But Lily Dale sounds like a place that knows what to teach without needing any help from tapes which is something I'd like to check out because I've been using the tapes less and less trying to find my vibes without needing something beforehand. I may find myself in Lily Dale sometime in the future.

Lily Dale is a Spiritualist camp. There is another famous one in Florida named Cassadaga outside Orlando (http://www.cassadaga.org). As far as I know some can really contact spirits. Cassadaga at least offers in-person sessions to contact dead relatives. Of course each 'reader' is different, some being more or less skilled and some having more or less integrity.
WARNING: In case you intend to visit their camps, they are literally full of disincarnate spirits mostly but not limited to dead people. If you are sensitive, you will be completely overloaded. Like any other people, some spirits are nice and others are darn right nasty. I know several people who went to Cassadaga and came home with an unwanted entity. If you must go, use extreme protection. Note: no personal association with Spiritualism |

hm...
I can see auras like blurry outlines around people or objects (like churches and other big stuff). And these outlines have a hint of color or many colors. This is achieved by looking at the person or object while bringing your sight out of focus. though it seems that this is the most primitive way of seeing auras. is there any info one could read about the 3rd eye aura seeing? I'd really like to try and learn, because it seems that through the 3rd eye you can get more beautiful and detailed imagery... can anyone point me to some material I could read? |

I prefer to read auric energy in this manner ;
Prepare the room with dim light a comfortable arm chair for sitter and reader Open in protection as you will deep cleansing breaths powering up raising energy prep the sitter as you prep yourself that is ask them to raise energy also achieving a light meditative trance closing physical eyes look through third eye For auras I look to the left shoulder noting the colours and then to the crown and down the right shoulder noting the differences in these three areas .The right side has to do with males and the left side with females ie an area of olive green on the right side may indicate a health issue that has to deal with male issues ie father , bf . partner etc. I interpret the colours in this manner ; http://au.msnusers.com/AuntClairsParlor ... msetc.msnw But you will want to consider what the colours mean to you , your guide and the sitter .Finally in answer to the background question . I find any dark colour in a dimly lit room helps the colours of the auric energy to stand out . I prefer dark solid blue or black but see what works best for your own sight . An A3 square of card or large poster board could be used I find that the colours leap out in waves and spikes and clouds and come away from the head about 15 cm on most people . The aura extends around the entire body but the head is easiest to view . But you can also read your own hands and have sitters stand sideways and view their heart aura too . Once you get good at this it is possible to look at the energy of the skin and within the energy body . I do not see the colour of the skin but the hermetic colouring of the energy on and through the energy limbs . I have read about seeing auras best on white backgrounds too . But I don't feel this helps me at all .
