Okay...so I hear all the time that our chakras are dormant and everything. They are dormant because they havn't been used throughout our whole lives and stuff...but the thing that is really bothering me is this:
When we go to sleep, our subconscious mind MUST use all these chakras (I believe) to get us out of our body and into the astral dream plane where we then have dreams. If this is true, then should the first statement be false, and really everyone's chakras are NOT dormant? They should be fully energized. I don't understand. Please help explain this weird situtation I have been contemplating for some time now. Thanks. |

I think the word "dormant" is misleading, since it implies that the chakras are doing absolutely nothing, which, in my opinion, is incorrect.
I like to think of chakras and abilities that involve moving and sensing energy as analogous to muscles; if you use them, challenge them a little bit (without overusing and injuring them), then over time they will strengthen and become more effective. If you do not challenge them, then they atrophy and remain weak. "Weak" does not mean dormant... chakras are doing their part as part of the human energy body even if they are not necessarily strong, just as most people can use their legs to walk even if they're in poor shape and can't run very well. |

Another way to think about it is with a scale that goes something like this:
collapsedoveractive most people's chakras waver between closed and normal, a highly traumatic experience or psychic attack can make a chakra close and in extreme cases collapse while everyday meditation and yoga will raise the chakra's quality towards open.. overactive is when you misuse or over-energise your chakras either through too much concentration on a chakra or due to the effect of other collapsed/closed chakras. Hope this makes some sense.. |

Note that we don't necessarily go to the Astral Plane during dreams -- dreams are usually a physical interpretation of experiences beyond the physical, which explains the symbolism encountered. Hence, a weak subjective realm is created in the Astral Plane, but that is a resulting effect, not a true travel into the Astral Plane per se ; we work on many levels, especially inward, when we dream.
As for chakras, no particular structure seems responsible for a projection besides conscience itself, which permeates the whole energy body. We usually project "through" a chakra, but it is not directly responsible for the behavior. Note also that the creation of an energy double to explore the real time zone provokes strong energetic sensations, but the act of falling asleep is quite gentle in comparison. We do project when we fall asleep, but it is different from the OBEs we read about in books. |
