I've just been reading Jalef's OBE thread (thanks, Jalef for a thoroughly enjoyable thread).
Anyway, something he has written has piqued my curiosity: landed outsido of my house where my father stood (not really maybe a thought form) . he told me that im not alowed to be here. I've been told I'm not allowed to do stuff by dream characters/ thought forms that represent authority figures too. Once, I had a huge steel door with a big red cross graffited across it slam down noisily to prevent me from going somewhere and, again, I just ignored it. I wonder: 1. How common and experience this is. 2. Why it happens. 3. If anyone ever pays attention to being told "No." So, be good enough to let me know if you have any thoughts on this, won't you. ![]() |

thank you beekeeper for pointing this out. i also wondered about this but discarded it quite rapidly. regarding your questions:
1. now that you ask, this happens sometimes in dreams but i dont have clear memory of one special dream where it hapened. it happened only once during an obe. 2. here are my thoughts on this that i had shortly after the OBE: this was the first time that i got out of the house in an OBE so maybe my subconscious thought that i wasnt ready yet for this so it created a figure that forbid me being there. but when looking closer that this is quite unplausible because that rest of the OBE was outside the house and i had no problems. so either the place was really forbidden (at least to my astral double) or there are other personal reasons and i think its the latter (why should the pavement near my house be forbidden to me?). 3. these figures seem to always have an underpart in dreams so i can say that i never really paid attention to this but ill try to do this now ![]() |

I pay a little more attention now when I am told not to do some thing in various dreams. But this mostly a resulting from my burn out. I remember previously being told not to do some thing and then doing it any way, or waiting for that preson/thing/thought to leave before continueing. Then I had a burn out, lost everything.
As it started to come back little by little and I started dreaming again, I also started paying a little more attention to some of the various warnings that come up. Things like just just seem to block my way I still ignore. I feel they are just simply the sub-consious not wanting to go there, or some thing to that effect. ut when some one/thing/or thought form tells me not to do some thing specific I pay attention. An example: I had this one dream a while ago where I was in a heavily wooded area where they wee doing some lumbering. I was a passanger in a car going up a long lonely road. When we got to the end we got out of the car. He started walking towards the woods and I begain to follow. He told me to stop and not follow him. Before I would have just said what ever and went into the forest alone if need be. But instead I asked him why. Why was I not allowed to follow him. He pointed to a shop sink that was oddly standing by itself in the smal clearing that we stopped in. I went over to the sink and looked down into it. I don't recall there being anything in the sink but I was filled with a tremendous sorrow. When I looked back up at him he just kinda waved and walked away. The sorrow I felt was intense and lasted for some time after I awoke. Some how I feel that for some reason I needed to experience that. It is difficult to explain why, but I felt better after having that experience. Maybe I left some of that sorrow I was feeling in that sink in the dream. Maybe that is why I could not follow him, maybe I could not carry that into the forrest. I don't know what the reason was. Some times maybe we need to ask why we are not suppose to do things. Maybe the "it's my dream i'll do what I want" mentality is not always the best one to have. But I do feel that blindly accepting being told not to do some thing can be equally as bad. Maybe some times we are told not to do some thing just so we can ask why and learn from it. |

Thank you Cainam.
When you say a "burn out" what do you mean exactly? If you don't mind me asking, what happened to you? I'm with you on, Some times maybe we need to ask why we are not suppose to do things. Maybe the "it's my dream i'll do what I want" mentality is not always the best one to have. But I do feel that blindly accepting being told not to do some thing can be equally as bad. Maybe some times we are told not to do some thing just so we can ask why and learn from it. but I've only been told "No" twice, ignoring on both occasions, and, so far, nothing terrible has come of it - as far as I can tell and, hopefully, nothin's brewin'. Your philosophy applies well to waking reality too, I think. ![]() |

I think that is this is probably our brains reacting to deeply ingrained beliefs that we are not supposed to be able to do such things, that these things are bad. So we manifest it into a dream or OBE character. I think that this may be the case some times but I don't think that this is the case all the time. I do think that it is possible that certain characters that you come into contact with may be external sources telling you not to do some thing for what ever reason. That is one of the reasons I believe that you should questions these characters instead of either blindly accepting or ignoring thier warnings.
When you say a "burn out" what do you mean exactly? If you don't mind me asking, what happened to you? I had a complete and total lapse in all abilities I had up until that point. Every thing shut down. I had a extreamly disturbing dream, to cut short, I was on a table, heard some one say that I wouldn't remember anything, and then was stabbed in the back of the head with a needle. I woke in sleep paralysis with the sensation still there of having been stuck in the back of the head, and laying face down in the same position I was in durring the dream. After that I had some difficult times. The entire world looked different, toned down. I was having a hard time recognising objects and people at first glance because they were lacking certain extra physical characteristics that I had become used to. For instance I would look at a pencil, I would know that it was a pencil, but it didn't look how a pencil normally looked to me. It's kinda hard to explain. I was also having a hard time sleeping and I don't thin that I was dreaming durring that time. There were some other problems that came up as well as some other things that made that dream really creepy which is why it bothers me so much. |

I know a young man whose mother disapprove his interest in OBE, she thinks he is in a cult or something. What is funny is that he saw her many times during his firt 30+ OBEs, standing in his room or on his way out, telling him not to do this, that it was forbidden etc. I helped him get rid of her powerful influence and his guilt and now his OBEs are free of any warning of this sort. I guess it's an incarnation of a psychological subconscious issue about being out of body.

I do think though that they're not all necessarily looking out for your best interest. They may be wanting to prevent your progress. Having said this, it is possible that they're trying to prolong your experience and direct you down more spiritual paths. Have you published your negative experience on the neg abuse forum? That's what it sounds like to me. You might get some insight. Still, I guess a psychological paradigm could apply too. You know, you faced something so repressed in you dream that your subconscious shut you down for a time. Kalonek, that's a really interesting example. |

I never did post it as a neg attack on any forum that I talked about it on. I did not get that impression. As time passed and I readjusted to things I was okay. After much longer some things begain to come back and I am now probabley better off than before. This happened a long time ago, maybe 6 or 7 years. I would have to delve into my notes to get an exact date.
Oddly many people I tell this to say one of two things, either they say I was attacked, or that I was taken by aliens. Like I said though, I don't think that I was attacked by some strange entity and I am just not capable of saying I was taken away by aliens, I think that is just silly. However I will admit to a number of inconsistantcies concerning what happened, but that's about it. |
