Ive only just started reading robert monroes book ultimate journey and in the first section he talks about travellling out of his body and meeting an INSPEC friend who helps him in his journey and other OBEs where he goes back in time a million or so years an talks to intelligent humanoids, has anyone else ever got this far in OBEs or is this kinda stuff only for the super experienced

Well sinse no one has responded. I will offer my two cents. In answer to your post... No, not me, probably never will. That book is quite mind blowing though. However...
I did once, I believe, meet up with one of my past lives, on an astral plane. Its a weird story but I was "lost" and asking this monk type guy (dark redish robe, partly bald, Benedictine look) for directions. He wanted nothing to do with me and just kept pointing down a gravel road then disappeared inside a stone tower.
Thats when "I" became "him". "I", now the monk didnt want anything to do with me (the visitor) but the visitor wouldnt go away despite my ravings.
Eventually he came up the stairs of my tower in the desert looking all sad and worried. Feeling quilty and sad for him I held out my arms and hugged him in comfort. At that moment I felt us blend into one and at the same time I sunk back into my body at home. (thats the somewhat shortened version leaving out the reasons I believe the monk was me).
It was quite profound.

Without getting too much into personal history, a few years ago I flew where I used to have most of my 'portal' experiences (my childhood home) and was shown another entrance to go underground. When I did, I was in a quasi-Victorian village which impressed me, not for the old dress or building, but because of how dirty it was. The air was filthy, you could see smokestacks, the place smelled of horse manure, and people smelled. That is what impressed me the most. It didn't last long, I didn't enjoy it, and am still not sure it was a real portal experience or a lucid dream born of my longing to return to those fabulous places that I was taken to as a child.
I am no expert, not even good at deliberate projection, but have been doing is since I was a child, and remember most of my experiences.
I am also not enlightened, or talented, or any of those things.

In Alchemy Circle spirit teachers took us to ancient Africa we did not go there ourselves we followed . So it is possible . We found whenever we traveled in time the colours dimmed and then became gray . We were not able to interact with the living only the spirits ie angels and mahatma that took us there . One method of known time travel is to go to the Temple of the Zodiac and the Temple of Time Complex which is behind the white house of Shamballah and stand upon the clock which is at 12 at the dawn of humanity and moves forward in that manner deosil future , widdershins past . When we follow teachers we seem to just be there without effort , I feel they create a tunnel into a portal for us .
