Yes, AP can be just as real and even more real than our physical reality. NOrmally the lucidity of the projection slowly deteriorates throughout the projection. Maybe this is just me though. I tend to find after 5-10 minutes it is normal then slowly dropping into dreamlike.

Glad you started trying though, good luck!

Default How real can a projection be?
I am new to all of this and am just starting to try the program. I have a question for those who are able to answer:

Is it possible to be just as lucid, concious and awake(mind) during a projection as you are when physically awake? Or, is it always kind of dream like? Just curious.

Thanks

I also have had both types. The clearest, most lucid of all was the one that wasn't my idea. I've been trying to do that again ever since!

A full all out projection will always feel more real the more of yourself you are projecting out of your body.
This reminds me of the ideas presented in the dream state programme to which I put up a brief summary at GOM.
Secrets of Sleep. Discovery Science
A look at research that suggests dreaming is an altered state of
consciousness in which future events can be predicted.

From the summary. 'During REM the old brain is active with the new/ higher brain being inactive. This was used to explain the lack of coherence in some dream recall.'
To your point a physical body factor re. the measure of coherence/ realism may be due to the degree that the higher brain has been able to remain in the loop and therefore to observe and be able to recollect the experience.
I also found of interest that the brainwaves in REM cannot be distinguished from awake brain waves.

My few attempts at AP have been so real, that I had to pull on my finger to make sure I was truly not asleep. Since my finger stretched, I knew I was not awake

I was walking on the floor, and the floor felt solild and cool. I was feeling my way along the walls (since I STILL have not been able to "see") and they sure felt solid!

I'm at my girlfriends house at the moment, else I would write some of the material from my OBE journals. In short, it is possible to be even more aware then when awake during projection. Some of my favorite projections have been where my awarness blazed. I was so aware, and conscious, that it was staggering. Waking day lucidity isn't even close to how lucid I have been during some of my projection experiences.
I've also had a lots of projections where my consciousness was either dim, or I didn't seem to have full analytical thought.

After numerous LD's where my level of awareness was pitiful - Thoughts like "I think this is a dream, but I'm not sure. Maybe that flying purple giraffee will tell me." aren't uncommon - I had the same worries: Would I acheive an AP only to find I was as dozy as I tended to be in typical LDs?

But having now had at least one LD where I had genuinely full awareness, and was as wide-awake as I've ever been, I'm reassured that, whilst it might not be gauranteed, fully-aware APing *is* possible.
