Default Comedian Roseanne Barr running for president

Comedian Roseanne Barr has filed paperwork to run for president of the United States on the Green Party ticket.

Barr, an Emmy and Golden Globe-winning sitcom actress, promised the Green Party that she would “barnstorm American living rooms” on behalf of the working class, according to a candidate questionnaire obtained by The Associated Press.

“Mainstream media will be unable to ignore me, but more importantly they will be unable to overlook the needs of average Americans in the run-up to the 2012 election,” she reportedly explained.

A growing voice in American politics in recent years, Barr has caught the limelight for espousing 9/11 conspiracy theories and aligning herself with the 99 Percent movement.

She told protesters in New York City months ago that she planned to run for the nation’s highest elective office, adding that if she wins, she’d bring back the guillotine “for the worst of the worst of the guilty” and cap all personal incomes at $100 million a year.

“And if they are unable to live on that amount then they should go to the re-education camps and if that doesn’t help then be beheaded,” she added.

“The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants — bought and paid for by the 1 percent — who are not doing what’s in the best interest of the American people,” she told the AP.

The news comes at an interesting time for Barr, who last month agreed to star in an NBC sitcom called “Downwardly Mobile.” The show will feature Barr as a trailer park manager who, according to CBS News, acts as something of a surrogate mother for the downtrodden residents.

It’s unclear whether her presidential ambitions will affect the show, or if the two may go hand-in-hand.

Barr is not the only television personality talking about taking a shot at the presidency: before his NBC reality show was renewed, billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump flirted with seeking the Republican nomination, but ultimately decided against it after a vicious ribbing by President Barack Obama, whom Trump had pressured to release his birth certificate.

Trump has since endorsed former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.
