Well the biggest problem with the harley is the front end heh. Going with a springer but saving up for it has been tough. I rode the superglide for a long time but then I had a mishap and lost my drivers liscense for a while.
Unfortunately that didnt stop me from riding it. I would get drunk and take it for spins in a big open field behind my house and dumped it a lot. It was pretty rough when I got it but after that summer pretty much everything was bent or broke.
Not a huge deal though as the engine and transmission are still perfect. So I bought a paucho wishbone hardtail frame for it with a bit of a rake and little upstretch.
That's pretty much where i'm sitting though, been that way for about 6 years now. Engine, transmission, clutch, frame. Have to buy pretty much everthing else. Yikes. Just cannot force myself to sell it even though I could use the cash and have had many offers. Just can't do it. Some day she will roar again.
So I turned my attention back to the jeep as the parts are so cheap and most of it is just welding, cutting and turning bolts.

Those frame up projects like you did on the Jeep are a real bear. I've been going through one now for about three years myself, and I hope to be done within another couple, but it seems as though something always happens to push things back a little. I've been restoring my 70 Dodge coronet R/T Convertible...it was my high school car.
I've got a couple of Jeeps, currently drive an XJ, but I've got a CJ4 that is not running.
The basket case bikes are always a bitch, but as you had it from original at least you know what you started with. I know what you mean about the springers....wish I would have kept all the parts and even basket case bikes I used to have, but you are correct those springers fetch some good money these days. Like I said, wish I would have kept a few.
I've built a few basket cases, as well as a few customs from the frame up, but I've been really trying to concentrate on getting my car done, so I haven't built a bike in a while now. Still have a few of around though, mostly the older models.
Well, good luck with the project and hopefully, see ya In The Wind!
