In the words of Red Skelton.....

A true classic.....http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/thumbsup.gif

A tad outdated....wouldn't you say?

Just as we no longer have 48 states, we no longer have respect wherever the flag waves.

The genocide in Iraq helped lessen the support we once had in the world.

And the bit about 'the people' hasn't been realistic since the whores in Congress decided that corporations were more important than individuals.

This past weekend, with the endless songs of so called patriotism blaring at every fireworks extravaganza, reminded me that we've always been about murder, and war.

Yep....we sure have a lot to be proud of.

I wonder how proud Red would feel if he were alive today?

Well, well.....another case of outdated talking points.

Times change...best you try to keep up.

You do realize there are more than 48 states?

It's obvious you missed the whole point....Duh....

Maybe I'm jaded, but pledging an allegiance to a government which continues to lie and push corrupt hypocrisy - has become very difficult lately.http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ktothehand.gif

I believe you missed the point.

Any respect the world had for us, is ancient history.

We are now viewed as impotent militarily, because we're overextended.

We aren't even feared....let alone respected.

Again..his point about 'people' hasn't been appropriate for decades.

Capitalism is all about campaign contributions.

Hell, your political affiliates believe corporations are the same as people.

A nice bit of nostalgia...for sure. Great if you wish to reminisce.

Just not appropriate in today's climate.

The pledge of allegiance is only talking points?

You are right though, we now have 57 states.

I am still waiting for our nation to live up to the words of the pledge.
