Middlebrooks is out for the season, I believe. So Red Sox fans are really missing Youk.

no sadness for Youk. I think Valentine saw opportunity with youth and went with it. sad fact that the sox are on a youth movement and that doesn't sit well with the local fans
Valentine will be lucky if he still has a desk by mid September at Fenway.

they'll keep him until the end of the season, start fresh next year.....

Hope not. l'd bring the new guy in now and have the players get to know what's expected of them come spring training.
lmo Bobby should have never been hired.
As far as Youks goes, tough call.
At some point the old has to be replaced with the new but one has to be mindful of the fans. They loved Youks.

Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine made his weekly appearance on WEEI's Big Show Wednesday afternoon and did little to help the perception that the magnitude of the job has gotten to him. During the interview, host Glenn Ordway asked Valentine if he had "checked out", and Valentine took issue with the question.
"What an embarrassing thing to say," said Valentine. "If I were there right now, I'd punch you right in the mouth. Ha. How's that sound? Is that like I checked out? What an embarrassing thing.

Bobby always was a thug and should never manage any other team.
Yeah it was a stupid question but it was followed by a worse stupid answer. But knowing Bobby it was the norm.

One positive for Red Sox fans suffering through tough times like this is that they are more appreciative when things go well for the Sox. If they had more success, they may not appreciate it as much.

I am a fan through thick (1986, 2003) and thin; and I do not like them this year, but hey I can't be all mad! after all they did win in 2004/7

Konservir 08-10-2012 12:52 AM

Can Yankees fans appreciate winning like Red Sox fans do since the Yankees have won so many championships over the years? I doubt it.
