Natasha, you might regret it if you don't join this team, because why miss out on things you might like to do? You only live once.

Default Roller Derby
Anybody ever participated??? I've got an offer to be a part of a Roller Derby team and am considering it. Having said that...I am VERY clumsy at times and can easily see myself suffering a broken bone, LOL

It seems like I remember someone here mentioning Roller Derby before, but I can't remember. I'd love to hear any experiences you guys might have, though.

Oh what team was it? My friend does Roller Derby for a Georgia team and they were even featured on USA's show called "Necessary Roughness" She's a total badass! The sport looks so hardcore, it scares me a bit TBH

It's the Middle Georgia Derby Demons. I used to skate A LOT up until the beginning of high school, but that was before inline skates became the thing.

They all wear normal skates, not inline.... and I think her real team is the Atlanta team... but she also posts a lot about the "Demons", and I know she's on more than one team. You'll have to PM if you decide to go further and I'll give you her name, she's awesome!

There use to be a roller derby night every 3 months on a Saturday night.
The games were played off a state route varsity center.
It was discontinued due to fights in the rink with some audience participation.
Lots of spitting, cursing, name calling and half peace signs.
I didn't like the beer throwing as it went everywhere.

I did like the match races where there's a beef between players where they try beating the crap out of each other.

The problem now is trying to get the games going again.
The league wants their Saturdays back...too bad.
The Saturdays they had is now booked by studio wrestling.
Unbelievable.
