Share a story about the guns you own or owned.

My father-in-law has always been big into hunting. We were talking guns one day and I told him how much I like to stalk hunt and really needed a short rifle for stalking. He offered to sell me his Winchester model 94 lever action 30/30 with a peep site for $135. I took the deal and killed a deer with it the following season. The rest of the story is he had never killed anything with the gun and asked to buy it back. I sold it back to him. I still doubt he ever made a kill with it.

It sits in the closet and has never been used.

The depression era single shot sixteen gauge shotgun I have sitting in the house was one of the most painful lesson in firearms safety I ever learned

Long story short, about 40 years ago I did something stupid with that gun, my uncle (who owned the gun at the time) gave me a HARD swift kick in my butt IMMEDIATELY after the dumb act.

I went crying to my father nearby, told him what my uncle had done to me, and my father replied "consider yourself lucky, because I would of kicked you harder" LOL

Funny thing...I NEVER made that mistake again with a firearm.

I gave my shotgun back to my father in fear that I actually might use it.
I do how ever have weapons for just collectors purposes
swords knives, medieval and martial arts stuff
I do have a stun gun that is legal that would be my only real defense

When I was in the marines I received range high 4 years on a row and expert. Prior to that I had never shot a gun before.
When I was in boot camp I was suffering hypothermia being rained on and shaking like a leave and yet still shot range high and expert.
I have the feeling that would be used against me if I ever shot someone out of self defense.

My first shotgun I grew to hate. I was small for my age so my Mom bought me a .410 bolt action shotgun. I truly hate the gun because everyone else was shooting 12 ga. or 20 ga. We hunted dove a lot back then. After hunting almost every weekend of an entire season of close to 3 months I had successfully downed 2 birds after firing dozens of boxes of shells through that gun. My kill rate went up dramatically the next season when I was using a 20 Ga. single shot, which I still own.

My favorite rifle is the Ruger 10-22 my grandpa left me.

Mambattedge 04-23-2012 10:08 PM

I love the Ruger 10/22. I own two and my son owns one as well. Great shooting little semi-automatics.

Agreed. And you can still get a brick of 500 rounds of .22 for under $20, so it's still affordable for plinking. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif

They can be extremely accurate. I scoped both of mine with a low end powered scope. 1.5 or 2X is enough to really make a difference for me vs. iron sights.

I would like to have a room or building or basement full of weapons in case martial law ever came about
like Red Dawn

Yeah, I have a TASCO scope on mine.

The shotgun I had from my father he told me was an antique. It had the shell on the bottom and a bullet barrel on the top.
I cannot remember what he said that was called.

Mambattedge 04-24-2012 12:28 AM

That is called a bore. Those are expensive guns. Do you know what the rifle barrel is?

Baromaro 04-24-2012 12:34 AM

not sure want to say 22

I have a savage like that. 20 ga. mag with a 22mag on top. I still have every gun I ever bought including the 12 ga. single with a full choke that I bought when I was 10. That gun will make your arm black and blue but damn can it reach out for a shotgun. Now I am into rifle shooting at big game for the most part. Health limits my ability to stomp for bunnies and birds anymore.

I also have a Model 28 Smith and Wesson (.357) that my Grandpa left me, I have a matching set.

They were my Grandma and Grandpa's, but I'm getting rid of her Model 28, she's an ugly person, so I don't even fire it.

That is a strange statement. Makes me wonder what the deal is.

She is a vindictive, evil woman. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif

Sounds like my ex's mother.
