Many don't realize that Babe Ruth was very good at pitching as well.
Talk about a guy born to play baseball! |
not just good........... Babe Ruth was one of the elite pitchers at the time.

Babe Ruth Is Still The Best At Hitting Home Runs
Mark McQuire, Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds may have more homeruns than Babe Ruth. But Sosa had that cork in his bat, McQuire and Bonds used performance-enhancing substances, while Ruth's diet consisted of beer and ring dings (well, OK, maybe not ring dings).
So I say Ruth was still the best homerun hitter of all-time (and he was a good pitcher as well). |

Willie Mays....amazing fielder and such power too...

until Babe Ruth nobody hit many home runs
The guy was a beast and could have also been one of the all time great pitchers Could you imagine with todays training how talented that guy would be if he stayed on the straight and narrow. Never hear much about his fielding or running but they must not have been too awful or he would have been a first baseman starting out. He is a true Icon |
thinking Thome is on par with Ruth...but then again Reggie Jackson was good in his time, but he was clutch in the World Series for the Yankees (which made me hate him more!) Puljos did put on an exhibition in Game Five at this years show....

Maris FTW
everything since is *juiced |

Cool.....

Sosa had a corked bat the one time... no proof that it happened any other time. He had plenty of other broken bats to prove that he wasn't using it all the time.

ruth did great and completely took advantage of his strengths...i would put ty cobb on the same level definately as ruth. his ability to put the ball in the right place and his running ability were just hand in hand flawless
