Default The Hakka
Inspired by the thread on standing and showing respect for another countrys national anthem, how do you feel about the Hakka? It's the New Zealand war dance they do to try and intimidate other teams before they play them at rugby. Hasn't worked well because after winning the first Rugby World cup, the've failed every time. Personally I'd boo it and flip them the bird! My country has a much better Rugby world cup record that there's and I show contempt for a team that dosen't deliver but still tries to give it all this!

Maybe if they spent more time practicing rugby instead of learning a dance routine they would win a game.

I think it's cool for the cultural aspect. Beyond that, I have no opinion because I've never watched rugby.

Fine by me! If they want to prance about, let them!!!
Do you remember the flack when the English team went up really close and eye-balled them while they were doing it?

I know of two, one with a throat-slitting motion that, for some reason, made some people mad.

As the Hakka is a war dance it is an attempt to intimidate the opposition. The All Blacks seem to care more about that than they do results on the pitch.

Last time the Lions toured NZ didnt Brian O Driscoll the then Lions captain give the traditional Response to it,pick a blade of Grass throw it in the air and turn his back to them ?

Then their players went out and Speared him in the first play of the game?

Just not when it counts!

Oh well!

Got to admit, it would annoy the hell out of you if another country did it at your team though?

Got to admit, it was hilarious on "They think it's all over" when Chis Eubank called Johah Lomu a big poof and then he came on for feel the sportsman round! Chris Eubank nearly shat himself!

I love it too.

I was quite shocked when I heard the hakka translated. It wasn't what I expected it to be.
