Default Olympics have started
Unofficially since the opening is tonight?

Anyways, ski jumping qualifications are on now. Not sure if you Americans will be able to find them.

yeah, it's pretty shitty set up for some that are only trying to qualify for this event to not make the cut and miss out on the olympics before the opening ceremonies... i'm glad my cable finally came back on this morning so i can watch.

Yeah, although they were taking the top 50 scores.

Ski jumping is pretty insane by the way.

There's a huge deal up here of who is going to light the flame tonight. Government wants it to be an aboriginal person since they gave the most money and our government bends over backwards for the natives here.

Screw that noise. Gretzky will probably do it, he's in Vancouver. Reports saw Gordie Howe in Toronto airport too, he might be headed to Vancouver.

I definitely vote for Gretzky.

I think he'll do it.

I'm looking forward to watching the opening ceremonies. This will be the first that I ever watch. The Olympics are pretty overrated in my mind. The Habs game is on tonight too and I wouldn't mind watching that.

I hate the way the Americans televise the Olympics. You don't get to see anything that isn't being dominated by Americans.

I get NBC and a few channels that should be covering the Olympics up here as well so I should be good with that.

You can't really blame the networks for going with Americans since they are showing it to an American crowd. Kinda like networks covering only Tiger in the PGA.

So I finally joined up on Twitter. I like how you get pretty close to real time coverage of things instead of having to wait for articles to be written and posted.

Supposedly they ran out of coffee in the media center...

And in luge practice, someone went off the track going 140kph and hit a pole. They were doing CPR. Doesn't look good.

Edit:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/spo...cle7025669.ece

A competitor in the luge was given emergency resuscitation treatment on Friday after a horrifying crash in training for the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Nodar Kumaritashvili, of Georgia, left the track on his sled at the Whistler Sliding Centre at around 90mph, according to observers, and smashed into a course side structure. He was unconscious, a Reuters reporter said.
Medics rushed to the scene to give him treatment. The incident happened hours before the Winter Games officially open in Vancouver.
Training was immediately suspended.

Universal, Universal Sports, MSNBC, CNBC, USA, and of course NBC. Still with all that it'd be nice to see some live coverage or prelims. Heck, even better live medal round coverage for that matter.

Since it's in North America, mostly everything should be live.

The medals for tomorrow seem like they'll do what they can, but only showing them on NBC, when you have Ski Jumping and Downhill going on at the same time. I don't see why they don't have Universal or Universal Sports showing at least one or the other if not prelim heats for other events. I mean USports just shows old World/Olympic events all year round, no harm in doing some live stuff.

I'm in. Although, without seeing who the favourites are in each, it's luck of the draw. Of course, I'm too lazy to look up the favourites.

Go to join a group at the top and type in "sports-boards".

You should see it when it comes up.
