Why does NBC keep kissing this guy's ass? He flopped in the olympics, apparently he was supposed to be a big winner.
So, does all the news coverage on him represent a real story, or is it just to get more exposure for someone the sponsors thought would get them lots of publicity? God knows he has enough commercials on the tube. So, who got fooled here? The public or the sponsors? Miller sure didn't lose out. |

SESTRIERE, Italy (AP) -- Unbent, unbowed and ultimately unsuccessful, Bode Miller said in an interview Saturday he is skiing away from these Olympics on his own terms -- content without any medals and impressed by the local nightlife.
"I just did it my way. I'm not a martyr, and I'm not a do-gooder. I just want to go out and rock. And man, I rocked here," Miller said in an exclusive interview with The Associated Press soon after he skidded off the slalom course in his fifth and final race, completing an 0-for-the-Olympics. http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/tor...v=ap&type=lgns |

For some reason, his aloof style reminds me of 1984 Downhill Gold Medalist, Bill Johnson. But Bill had the "boy scout" Mahre brothers accompanying him at the games - and they were more comfy with the press than Johnson was.
I remember Johnson talking about how he trained for the downhill once though. He said "guzzle a few beers and point the skis downhill." |

If Bode Miller wasn't overhyped, nobody would care. And thus, I don't care because I didn't know who he was before, during, or after the Olympics.
Get over it. U.S. didn't win the medal count. So what? It's not always about winning in the Olympics. It's about a fair international competition that everyone has a chance of winning. It's about underdog stories. It's actually about the expected winner losing. That's what makes the Olympics even more exciting. And just because the U.S. was on the losing end makes it different? Nope. |

Miller wasn't "over-hyped" as someone else said, he was the 2005 WORLD CUP CHAMP, as in the best skier in the world !!!!!
Thats why he was hyped up, he was supposed to be the best skier in US history !!!! and I think it's a story because of his total lack of reguard for the Olympics--if he didn't care abaout them then why go??? He's making millions off of his sponsors(which will be drying up after this) and he's supposed to be there to represent the US "TEAM"--not as an individual. He took a spot on the team, that means there was someone sitting at home watching that should have been there, somebody the would have at least givin 100%,somebody that it would have ment something too, somebody that it would have probably been the high light of thier life and the pay-off for years of hard work to be there and we as a nation could have been proud of. Miller is a selfish asshole and I sure hope this is the last we ever hear of him. |

I thought it was a great effort and very entertaining. There are guys like Bode around all the time, hyped up to be a bit better than they really are. That's a part of sports. |
