I definitely understand what you're going through... and I was going to write my own post as well about Leon. I am going through a time where the next year will determine whether I stay in Canada or go home. Leon is going to live my best friend until I get my life in order or until I can make a permanent decision ...which, mind you I'll get to see him as much as I want. But the circumstances in my life have forced me to make decisions that could make or break my marriage and Leon deserves to be somewhere that he is the focus and can be the dog he is. I would never judge you for making a decision that are the best for your family as a whole. I hope you find the perfect place for him, even though our pets are a commitment and we love them like family, sometimes they deserve better than we can offer them and sometimes there is someone out there that can be all they need/want.

I totally understand how that is King_leonidas, I would have had my hubby's best friend take Logan but they just took in a coydog that was a friend of theres that was ganna be put down at only 5 because he had to move back in with his parents...I am just happy that where Logan is I can go see him any time, that he is not hours away or anything.

That program, I am not qualified for, its really the only thing there is down here, and yea I am in southern IL, I am a mile away from where the white river meets the wabash, my town is the county seat and largest town in the county...it has maybe 8,000 people at most, more like 5,000 now since everyone has been moving because of the cost of living being so high

no programs like that out her unfortunatly, the CHEAPEST is $200, so no way in that....BUT I did find someone, AND they live a block from the hubby's parents and will keep in touch and we are able to come over any time, the wife is actually best friends with hubby's parents' neighbor so we will see a lot of Logan still I am sure. He now has a HUGE yard, about 4 times as big as what we have, they took him off raw like I expected but put him on Diamond Natural since I recommended it and its the best we have where we don't have to order or drive 45 minutes to get. I don't think he is going to get into to much trouble, I really wish I had the money to neuter him but am just happy he is in a safe home. It took them over an hour of being with him to decide if they wanted him or not so I don't think they were being too hasty int he decision either
Where do you live? I volunteer with an organization and we neuter pits for free... Last month I think we did 23... We have a couple things going on this weekend with them and I will ask... They may also be able to help rehome him for you

That'll be the best part if they keep in contact with you and even let you see him from time to time... my friend is on my facebook so she'll post photos on my wall and tag me in photos. Which will be bittersweet. If I can have him back at some point I will, but right now it's best for him to be unconditionally loved and cuddled :P

Same here... NO low cost spay/neuters for dogs even pitbulls. The cheapest near me is $275 and $350. And I've looked!

Around here we have a program going on that is Specifically for Pit Bulls at one of our low cost spay/neuter clinic. They don't do it all the time but at various times during the year. Basically you can Spay/Neuter your pit bull for only $5. And it includes rabies vaccine and microchip. They started this because we tend to euth a lot of pit bulls. There are just too many pit bulls that come into AC and not enough people adopting them. Typically their prices to spay/neuter are $45 for dogs. But they do this every so often.
I really wish there was this option in more places.

Seems as if ellie already rehomed Logan. Hopefully you can pass on the info to the new owners and they will take him to get neutered.

yea I already did, they live in Indiana not in Illinois (just across the river) so they can't use the food stamp spay/neuter clinic thing, but I am hoping they join here, I gave them all the info, they were moving into the house that week so I don't think they had the internet turned on yet though

Is the new family in a good finical situation where they won't need to use a program?

Did you make them sign anything saying they have to neuter him?

Wow...two days was kinda quick but I guess you had to do what was needed. Hopefully Logan doesn't get the short end of the stick.

Glad you found a new place for him to go. as far as making some extra money, you said your a stay at home mom? why not try advertiseing for babysitting jobs at home, i know around here ALOT of moms lok specifically FOR another mom to watch there kids. you can make some decent money doingi t (i do that, i also do housekeeping)
dont knock odd jobs until youve tried it, i do a housekeeping job regularly for a guys summer house, hes single but has alot of "guests" i basically mop, do dishes, clean the counters, vaccum, straight up newspapers for 20 bucks an hour.

oh that is a good idea, there are not many sitters around here, I don't think I could do more than 1 at a time but heck I could totally watch another baby for a few hours a day! I was checking craigslist jobs for odd jobs, and found a guy looking for a gudder repair person to help him out on jobs, had my hubby call him, he doesn't have experience but can learn fast and is not scared of climbing ladders or working with tools so I hope he gets it even if its only a few days a week, it will be some money comming in

I agree with this, good idea! You might also find some people that are only looking for before and after school care. Or, what about running errands for the elderly in your area?

I just posted an add for walking dogs...any extra money will help I hope my rates are not to high, NO ONE has a dog walking program around here so yea I hope I get one or two clients...this is what the add says

hello, I am a 26 year old stay at home mom that loves dogs. My husband just lost his job and I am trying to find ways to get some money while he finds another job.

I love to walk and walk my dog often so I figured why not help dogs that owner's can't walk them as much as they would like.

Mt. Carmel
I am charging $15 per dog for 1 hour, $25 for 2 dogs and $5 for every extra dog.

Princeton
I am charging $20 per dog for 1 hour, $25 for 2 dogs and $5 for every extra dog.

Dogs must be up to date on all shots and if they are poor walkers on the leash I need to know before I start walking. I am pretty good at training dogs to walk on a leash so I just need to know before hand. If you are going to not be home when I return with your dog(s) I need payed up front and prior to you leaving you need to tell me where you want the dog to be put (in a kennel, back yard, in the living room) if you are going to be home then you do not need to designate a drop of location.

call or text me at

Oh, that sounds good! Would you also be willing to drop off or pick up pets from the groomer for clients as well?
Sound gross, but I also know of businesses up here that advertise to pick up dog waste, and they do pretty good too.
