weird dog habits
 

Our old dog loved toothpaste and would always beg Dad for some. Dad finally relented and gave her a little pea-sized amount on the tip of his finger. She happily licked it up, then immediately turned around and began vigorously licking the hardwood floor!! She would do this every time we gave her toothpaste, only after eating toothpaste, and never any time else. We thought it might be because she didn't like the taste of toothpaste, but if that was the case why was she always begging for it?! http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/lol.gif


what weird compulsions do your dogs have?

Idk if this is a weird habit or just plain weird but everytime she throws up, if I dont immediately clean it up she will eat/lick the throw-up as if it never happened. lol

Molly sits on feet. Front, back, side .. she couldn't care less. My MIL is on Hospice & this morning her nurse was here talking with her in her room. She is usually a little reluctant of Molly & I keep Diesel in my room when she's here because he's just nosy & thinks if you're not petting him, you might as well leave. Any way, I was doing cleaning stuff & next thing I know, Ms. Pam is calling me in the room. Molly is sitting on the back on her feet. Just chillin. Pressin up against her leg. I told Pam all she wanted was a little love. I called her over gave her a good rub. Silly girl.

Oh jeez, where to start?!

Andromeda's current "weird habit" is her obsession with water. She tries to lick rain water off the sidewalks, when I water my plants in pots, she tries to nock them over to get the drips that missed. She begs to be able to lick condensation off glasses. She pays ever so close attention to water bottles, constantly watches them, she bites at the stream from the hose.

The kicker of it all is; she's AFRAID of water and hates going IN it! Afraid of sprinklers too.

I bought her a little plastic wading pool to help her get over this, since she loves to drink water. So far it's the worlds most expensive water dish. She'll just drink from it and refuse to go in it!

Barrett does this silly thing when I make him go potty at night before I go up to bed. He's kinda lazy to begin with, so when I wake him up to go outside he does this funny crawl all the way across the room out to the deck. It's like his back legs are paralyzed and he drags himself across the floor by his front legs http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png I need to "call" it something and make it into a trick! He doesn't do it any other time but late at night. It's so funny!

Mama has a few....

1. She stands on your foot while you are petting her seemingly so the person petting can't leave.

2. She licks your arms, legs, just about any skin while you pet her. It's like she is giving back!

3. She hides all of her toys. The only time she will play with them is when she finds them again and only while she is looking for a new spot. She buries them in the laundry baskets, under pillows, blankets, any corner, behind furniture, in shoes, and the best place yet...inside a shirt my daughter's stuffed animal wears. Still have no idea how she stuffed it in there!

When I'm painting my fingers and toes, Ryker insists on sniffing them after they're painted. She then jumps, wiggles, squirms like she hates it and continues to do it until they're completely dry.



She also sleeps on her back, EVERYTIME she falls asleep.

lol just a lil bit. i'm a Jersey girl but lived in the South for the past 5 years. I LOVE it. Went back to Jersey for 2 months this summer before coming back to SC & I couldn't wait to leave.

Cesar dislikes his tongue being wet, so imedetly after getting a drink of water he rushes around to find a person then licks them untill his tongue is dry then goes back to do it again. its SUPER annoying!

LOL! I thought Diesel was the only one. He will lick your legs when you get outta the shower. He'll lick your towel. He licks the windows when it's raining ..& can't figure out why he isn't getting anything.. & he loves the condensation off cups. You turn on the hose & he heads for the hills though. Silly puppers.

Mason stands and grooms both his front legs after he eats a meal.
Mason can't go to sleep in bed until he has licked both my eyes, forehead, neck and at least one ear.
I think Mason must have been a cat in a former life.

Kojac lives with two small duch hounds, and every chance he gets he will sneak up to them and sit on them. They will squirm and fuss, but he will act like nothing is out of order. At feeding time, Sheeba will scoot her food bowl with her nose across the floor, until it is mixed how she likes it. And only then will she eat!

Roxie likes to "massage" my arms with her tongue when I get home from work. I'm sure she has many other weird habits, but now it's just so commonplace I don't notice the weirdness.

Owen likes to empty his food bowl and eat kibble pieces individually off the floor of his crate. And even if I feed him first he will wait until all the other dogs have their bowls before dumping and eating his food.

Rita seems to be driven insane by the taste of body lotion. Every time I lotion my feet after a shower I have to either cover them immediately with socks and shoes or Rita will come lick every trace of lotion off.

Ike does the cat thing where they knead blankets or whatever they are about to lay on until its juuuuust right.

Renee is obsessed with catching flies.

Dante's not one to play tug of war with his rope, but once he latches onto the rope he immediately rolls onto his back & wants to be dragged across the carpet. He looks so lazy & everyone laughs. Maybe it's like a great back scratch?

Koda will never sit look at you, he will turn his butt around and sit on your feet and look up at you. He also is a constant licker, its annoying.
My favorite is when he has a rope toy and he lays on his back and holds one end in his mouth and one in his paws and pull it.
He never stops wagging his tail, ever. So you hear this constant thumping, somwhere.
Thats all i can think of right now haha
