I don't look at every thread. Is is wrong to request that these threads stand alone and HAVE the relevant pedigrees/pictures, etc IN them that ARE being talked about so that I don't have to go thread hunting? Btw - OP said that the breeder mentioned in that post didn't actually breed the litter, just had the puppies. Not sure what happened there. And I totally didn't catch that the sire is a red nosed dog (that's what I get for posting early in the AM!).. that's a BIG no-no in AKC. |

100% scatterbred bull & terrier. Main stream media and the general public would just say "pit bull". Just because he has all three breeds in him doesn't make him any one, more than the other. With the red nose and golden eyes, AST might have been my last guess ... but the body kinda reminds me of AST ... except so leggy ... and then there are the AmBully lines in the ped. Did I mention scatterbred LOL.
And in your thread title ... AB ... I don't see any American Bulldog at all. |

The reason im so hell bent on finding out what he is is because I cant get much info from the guy I got him from. And it really bothers me to not know 100% what he is.
Not to mention I probably paid to much for an unregistered pup (my fault) presuming the guy was a reputable breeder. I guess I just want hope that he isnt a mutt. Sorry if im beating a dead horse guys/gals. It just really depresses me. We all want what we pay for right? |

Most breeders are anxious to supply you with the paperwork on their dogs -- they are proud of what they've got. It's odd they won't discuss or give you copies of papers, even if they won't "sell" you the papers. Most likely you have an APBT bred along the lines of what those other two males are on that website. Carla |

And in the end, you DID get what you paid for. You have a puppy you are happy with. You are going to neuter him anyway according to some of your other posts, so what's the difference? A dog with the greatest pedigree in the world can be a flop. A dog with an unknown pedigree can be fabulous.
I compete a lot with a shelter pit bull type mutt that the AKC let me PAL as an AmStaff. He competes along side of the purebred dogs. Makes no difference. Papers don't step up to that start line. My dog was found running along a dirt road in the country. Who cares? Just enjoy your dog, whatever he is. He's adorable. |

A dog with the greatest pedigree in the world can be a flop. A dog with an unknown pedigree can be fabulous. But, papers DO often make a difference, whether the dog is a flop or fabulous. What's interesting -- to many of us -- is the HISTORY behind that flop or fabulous dog! Dogs and dog discussion today, whether you agree with it or not, is based on breeds and the purebred dog model -- whether you agree with the whole purebred dog thing or not. And that whole model is based on and exists because of the PEDIGREE! It's fairly natural, I believe, to want to know that history. I encourage people to always GET the pedigree if they are at all interested in the BREED and went to a breeder for a dog; and I always tell them to RUN from any breeder that charges more FOR papers; AND that papers are NO guarantee of the future quality of an individual dog.
