I agree with Robyn. Just let it happen. Theres probably no convincing him so he'll have to learn the hard way.. and then you'll get a good laugh out of it lol.

I know that the idea is stupid, have broken up many fights, and wouldn't even think about putting part of my body that close to a fighting dogs mouth,

The thing is he really isn't that stupid, i mean his thoughts on this are BEYOND stupid, but in general he isn't a stupid guy, which is probably why his thoughts on this erk me so much...it's so frustrating.
Like how can such a smart person have such a idiotic idea in his head and even a person who has broken up many fights, can't convince him it's not a good idea....
Perhaps if i get more replies i will show him this thread.
Then When he calls you with a Maimed arm, tell him 'I tried to tell you man'. Otherwise gotta let him learn from his mistakes. He wont listen to reason. I've seen some smart people do some stupid things also. But arrogance leads to stupidity no matter originally how smart the person is.

A true friend would be there at the hospital with him to give him something to cheer him up while the docs try and reattach the nerves in his arm. Maybe a balloon that says " I told you so, dumbass" would be appropriate.

What an idiot. I've broken up my fair share of fights, and I tell you what NO part of my body would go near a dogs mouth. The closest I am to the dogs head is just so I can grab the collar.

Some people, no matter how smart they are, just have no self-preservation. Trust me, my sisters and my mom are very, very book smart, but street smart? Hahaha, no.

Honestly, all you can do is try to get it into his head that even if he wants to stick his arm in there, there are better and faster ways.

Sounds like a good way to get bit, my b/f did that a few months back because the younger two were under a desk fighting, I grabbed one dog around the waist and yanked her back out so I could grab her collar, he sticks his hands under the desk (into Nero's mouth), don't know if he was going for a collar or what he was thinking but lucky the dog didn't bite down, realized he had James and not Ripley's face. He's lucky, I wouldn't have risked that.
