We never give Tank people food. When ever we sit down to eat Tank goes in his cage until we are done and have cleaned up. He was having some stomach issues and we knew he needed to have some rice and boiled chicken. He didnt know what to do with it because it was the first people food ever sat infront of him. I ended up having to hand feed him till he was ok to eat it on his own.

They had beef heart for breakfast. Lily got to lick the bowl I mixed up scrambled eggs in. They each got a couple tiny pieces of my bacon and Scout got to lick my plate when I was done eating.
I always chuck Lily pieces of whatever fruit or veggie I'm prepping for myself, but Scout always spits that stuff out. |

This is one of my biggest weaknesses, Izzy and Dee just have the saddest faces I usually end up giving them some of my food. When I used to bring Izzy to work I would go get a sub for lunch and usually grab her a plain hot dog with no bun or if we were out I'd get her a cheeseburger.
Ya I'm terrible. |

Roxie licks our plates. And she gets little bits of dog-safe human foods. Usually stuff I dont want... My last dog trained me well, I almost never finish that last bite so the dog gets it, lol. Roxie has no issues with weight, though, so it's not something I worry about. Just so long as no one gives her more than a
bite or two, anyways. She is still expected to lay down outside of the dining room while we are making and eating food, unless someone spills something. |

Mine do. Depends what it is, though. No spicy things and not a lot of sauces or gravies. But, yeah, mine get a bit of what we don't finish or leftovers that have been in the fridge too long and are about to be tossed. They have to work for it, too.
Yesterday we had some pot roast and some steamed broccoli left over from the night before that I fed to them in exchange for some obedience. Amazing how the ADD dogs suddenly develop an attention span for some cold pot roast... I also let the dogs lick plates and bowls. We call that "pre-rinse" around here ![]() |

Oh yes, I'm a sucker for the sad face. We have an on going joke at my house, whenever our dog is looking in strange places (laundry baskets, dressor drawers someone forgot t oclose) we say "Hey Mickey. There's no cheese burgers in there, take a hike", my daughter thinks its very funny. After the one time we have him a cheeseburger he became a human food fiend.
He will also lick our plates and bowls too. Our dog will eat anything that comes out of my hand, including blueberries, brocoli, carrots |

Yep, he gets people food. For years Henry had no interest in people food, but the last couple of years his little palate has perked up.
He loves fresh, semi-cooked beef or chicken, as well as cheese and raw veggies. Occasionally I will let him have 'junk food'...ice cream, Wendy's chicken nuggets, maybe a bite of cheeseburger. If he had allergies or stomach issues I wouldn't do it, but he seems to have a gut of iron (my husband is terrible about remembering to put food where he can't reach it...Henry's most recent find was 10 chicken nuggets and a container of fries. Not even a stinky fart.). Plus, I know he really enjoys it and it's a 'special' treat. |

Yeah, mine do -- fairly frequently and anything they like (all in moderation). My dogs don't have any problems with milk, so they LOVE a bowl of cold milk or cottage cheese when it's hot out.
This past winter, I had the local convenience store hold all the throw-away sandwiches, burritos, etc for me...and my dogs got those too. Left over pizza, pasta, potatoes, gravy, veggies, fruit they like, leftover oatmeal, cereal, etc.... They also get good fresh raw stuff -- chicken quarters, liver, kidney, heart....I just watch the bargain bin, etc.. AND, I have no problem getting them to eat a bowl of dry kibble either! |
