Not trying to pry, but my BIL has a felony and not had too many problems with rentals. Private landlords, chat and make friendly, explain the situation and the circumstances around the felony and how you have grown, matured, changed, whatever.. voila! rental.
It's always best to do what you can to live in your own place even if its not as nice as you would like or not as close to work/family/school as you'd like. It's truly worth the inconvenience to not have to deal with other people's irresponsibility, annoying behaviors, them messing with your stuff and your pets etc. I said it a long time ago and I meant it enough to do it. I'd rather live by myself in the ghetto than share space again. My husband and kids are damn lucky I let them live with me, lol. |

Take a difficult to place dog like a pit bull, add a convicted felon as an owner, throw in rental property, multiple room mates, at least one who has problems with the law and their family, add some drama and mix it all up. It doesn't take a genius to see this is a recipe for trouble.Too bad some dogs are going to suffer for the short comings of their humans. Pit bulls seem to be the breed of choice for these stereotypical situations. Just one more strike against them.
To the OP what would ever cause you to think this is a good living situation for dog ownership, especially pit bull ownership. I guess another pit bull is in need of a home. I realize bad shit can happen to anybody but what about this situation looked remotely stable or lasting to begin with? |

I agree with Atheist on this one. What ever made you think your situation was a good situation for a dog let alone a pit bull. Then on top of that you have posted many times about Calvin being a VERY fearful dog who clearly needs a SAFE and STABLE environment. Nothing you have posted about the environment you live in seems safe or stable in anyway.
Do what you can do get place on your own like MJJean said so your dog doesn't get attacked by a room mates dog again or something even worse. |

Sometimes I think the best thing pit bull owners can do for this breed is be very hard on other pit bull owners to understand, and live up to the expectations for responsible ownership. That is why I post so much about containing and preventing your pit bull from interacting with other animals regardless of how much anybody believes they can control and manage the situation. In the end we all suffer. You want to have multiple animals on your own property, fine take your chances. As soon as you endanger other animals besides your own, every pit bull owner should speak up and let you know how irresponsible you are and how you are endangering their right to have a pit bull.

im not looking for a shoulder to cry on, i have options i was just stressed out, calvin has made alot of imporvments with me and will continue to do so, i can find other places to live that is not really an issue and have one lined up that i am going to go to, my dog doesnt have any interactions with the other dogs here, except when she came home with him and came in when calvin was out of the room with me, other than that there is no contact with other dogs, so you should know what the hell you are saying before you say something, yes i am a felon, i got charged as an adult at 15 for using a stool in a fight someone else started who was twice the size of me, calvin doess great with me and has stated one on one training with my friend who trains dogs, my roommate is a great guy and i have no clue how this could have happened seeing as he never leaves the house but that is besides the point, my enviroment is stable, we have a routine and follow it every day and will continue to do so. he doesnt come in contact with the other dogs here as i said before, and the place im going to go check out tomorrow has a big back yard and no dogs, i took calvin because i didnt want him to go to the humane society and sit there for months on end and not get adopted then be killed. he has flourished with me, yes he has problems but we are working on them and he may not overcome all of them but that is something only time will tell.

This is a tough spot you are in... I think if it were me, I'd see if I could find someone that could foster him for you for a bit until you can get on your feet and offer a more stable home... and I would definitely try to find a place of my own. No roommate= no one spending the rent money for anything other than what it's meant for.
