I never ever thought I was the pitbull type until my son brought over Trigger, that is when the mutual bond began..

But I am married with grandkids and some of my children don't get it either...they feel the same way about the breed as I used to, before my "education."

I never considerend myself a Pit Bull type.. in fact Bully breeds are the last breed of dog I wanted because I didnt think they were "cuuute" but my husband convinced me to adopt this cute little pit pup and my heart has been forever changed!

I do probably fit the stereo type though.. tattoos, angry/bitchy, talk like a sailor.
and then I dont.. kindergarten teacher, loves pink and glitter.

I have noticed that when I get that comment all my tattoos are covered up. People are so quick to judge.
Same here.

Lol hell I guess i fit the description, everyone says I'm the type to have a pit or a few- im a tattooed, Hispanic male, with no censors lol. When I'm out with Tuck everyone looks and kinda moves to the other side of the street and walks away pretty fast lol.

I've never had anything said to me while with my dogs or fosters, but I have when I'm w/o my dogs. The other day I was walking through the parking lot at Walmart and a guy was walking a pit bull and I was staring (nice lookin dog!). He thought I was afraid and was telling me he was friendly and then I asked to pet him. He was stunned and brought him over and the dog licked me and when I knelled down and the dog wrapped his paws around my neck and was licking me all over! Owner said I didn't look like the type of person that liked pit bulls.

My usual comment since I was a teenager was "nobody is going to mess with you are they?" cause I usually had 3 plus big dogs (pit bulls, Mastiff breeds, Dobes).

lol this is so me and my bf, he loves our little poodle and has no problem walking her (since most guys refuse to walk little dogs). He loves it especially when she is dyed, and then theres me usually walking the Boxer and Bully x.

I think I'm too much of a tomboy to get that comment. If I go out dressed up I get some weird looks but that's about it.

I love Pitbulls and have had 3 in my time. I don't know if i fit the profile people look for in a Pitbull owner. But I can honestly say that I wouldn't own another breed. This breed brings light into my life and brings me nothing but joy. And if I have to be a gangster or whatever they think I should be, then that's what they can call me. I could care less. But if they come in my house uninvited, they will see the side of the Pitbull that they only know of. They will not see the side that they SHOULD know.

Funny because many people will tell you they make horrible guard dogs, but keep the stigma going..

I have heard that many times... middle age white female, middle class, work in insurance claims, quiet, friendly, not one that is quick to get upset of bent out of shape about things... I guess I'm some kind of "small dog" looking type. Of course it wasn't me that brought Mollie home, she was my daughter's Christmas present from a then boyfriend... and now I have 3 pit bull type mixes. But then again, I've always loved big dogs... I have never been a "small dog type" person.
