Good luck in your search, I am in the same boat I am WAY WAY too picky and there's not many close to me. So I've been having a hard time, I know it's already been said but keep your eye out at the shelters sometimes pit bull pups and younger pit bulls are brought in and they would have just as much potential! Take a look at them conformation wise, and then if you can trial the dog do that! But I'm not against buying a pet/sport dog from a breeder by any means, that's all mine will be for and possible a little conformation as well. Good luck though, I hope you find something that's perfect for you... and I'll be excited to hear how you do with sporting!

Yeah I'm really picky. If I'm paying at least $600 (the cheapest that I saw from a kennel that I was looking at) I want the dog to be as sound as possible. I'll be looking at the shelters for a pet. I'll be getting an older dog since I love the older ones. They just look up at me with such wisdom and acceptance in their eyes. I'm hoping that we'll (me and my future love) will do well. I'm not expecting something huge since it'll be my first time.
Good luck to you too. What are you looking for?

I believe I was talking to Kasey (?) and I think Mako (?) and something...(was Mako the other dog...I'm sorry I don't remember ) and I believe that countryman was where the dog was from...sorry if I'm wrong

Thanks kady. I'm excited to receive the email from Kayo Kennel.

Btw this is the email I've been sending to all the kennels that I'm interested in. Is there anything else that I should ask?

Hello,
My name is Uyen. I've just discovered your kennel and I was wondering if you
could answer a few of my questions. Could you tell me about your contract, price
of the puppies and if you ship.

More about the dogs: I was wondering what type of health tests you do before you
breed them. Are their hips and elbows certified. If there are any known problems
and I'd want to see testing to prove that the dog isn't a carrier. Have your
dogs gone through any temperament testing? Why did you breed the dogs and what
you wish for the puppies. (If you would prefer they go to a show home or go home
as a pet).

Sorry for my endless questions.

Thank you,
Uyen

I do have a lot of kennels to look at and ask questions. It isn't hard to find a "good" kennel, but I'm not looking for a "good" kennel. I'm looking for a kennel that will breed a dog that will suit my purpose. For example, I want my dog to show and I want to get involved in dock diving so I'm looking for a kennel that will be breeding a pair that is known for their dock diving abilities.

Lol yup I found her, but not through advanced search. I had to go through chats and all that, but now that I'm PMing her I can see that she's nice. I will put her kennel into my list of consideration.

Well about the questions. I may say that I'm sorry for the "lots" of questions, but those questions aren't all I need answers for. They're the most basic of questions that could determine whether or not I want a dog from them. Reading through the contract is very important so is the price of the dog and if they would ship the dog to me since I don't live in the area. The other questions are about health. I'm not about to pay over $700 for a dog that's not the best possible. I do realize that even with guarantees and health check it doesn't mean anything (the dog could still end up sick, etc), but I want to know about it before hand.

Sorry for the rant.

gigglymonkey12,
Thank you for starting this thread. I will be looking to acquire one more pup in a year or two. I'm starting my research now and the responses have been very helpful
Good luck with your search, and thanks for starting this thread.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to add my little problem of not having any good breeders close to me. If anyone knows of any in the NE, or somewhere close to the NE please PM me, LOL.

Yeah you're welcome.
I don't have any either. I know of BYB and one kennel, but they don't have any breedings planned for quite awhile. I don't mind shipping my pup to me either (as long as they allow it of course)
You should keep me informed (with which breeder you decided to buy from) and take pictures if you buy one soon.

It could just be informational, with pics, peds and such.

.
But the health checks DO mean SOMETHING -- done consistently in the ped, it does REDUCE the chances of your dog coming down with something like HD...so, I hate to read that "it doesn't mean anything".....

Sorry I made it sound like that. However if you continue reading my post (esp. the one where I tell what I ask in my email to the kennels) I ask about the health and all that. I do know the benefits, but again if I offended you with the wording of my sentence I'm sorry.
