What about something like these! A bit different to a regular ball...

Thanks, some very useful suggestions so far.

Have you tried the kong toys? That way you can combine treats with playtime. It's like a cone you can open and put treats in ands the dog has to roll it around to get the treats out. It's weighted on the bottom though so it doesn't roll about like a ball. Keeps my dog entertained for hours.

I get one of the bones that are filled with stuff the dog doesnt usually like. I then take that out fill it up with wet dog food and freeze it. My dog spend ages trying to eat the contents because it is something he likes, but it takes him ages because it is frozen. It becomes easier to get at the filling as it defrosts.

How about a frisbee style toy with a ball in the middle? Saw them in the supermarket the other day - looked fun.

Help with toys
My west highland terrier Jessie turns 1 soon and I'd like to get her something new to play with since she seems a bit bored with the ones she already has.
She loves things that squeak but the noise tends to drive me crazy so she's only allowed those for half hour at a time. She will chase a ball but she's got a lot of balls and it's hard to do anything different with a tennis ball - but if there were any other round ball like toys. She's not keen on tug type games though so ropes tend to get ignored. So, what does your dog love? Any suggestions for any hit toys? |
