Canine Warts also come from the Papilloma virus. Just like human warts, it's contagious to other dogs reason why if your dog has it, it's either you resort to cauterization or medication prescribed by the veterinarian.
A number of owners have suggested, though, to just wait it out. Because like any other virus, they are usually attacked by the anti-bodies. So one day, they may look inflamed and the next all gone. Two weeks ago, my 4 month old shih tzu had them. So I just to share this subject to others. Is it contagious to humans? No, it isn't. Where can my dog get it? Any encounter with dogs having it (even the ones who do not have signs of canine warts but are carriers of the virus) can be the source. What should I do when I see a growth? It's always best to go to your veterinarian to ask for advice on what to do next. My veterinarian advised me to have Chooey's warts cauterize before it spreads. Fortunately, the cauterization costed us 1000 php (roughly $25) only. A number of owners have mentioned using Thunja pills and Imiquimod (used for human warts) but it's always better to seek veterinary advice. I hope this helps. |
