Adolescents on steroids
Not literally on steroids but holy hell Tye hit the 9 month mark last week and he is exhausting the hell out of me. The more I do with him the more he needs! It doesn't matter physical or mental. He just go go go all day! I am ready to hire a babysitter haha! Testing every which way he can! Only positive is he is walking down the hall to the bedroom by 9pm and he is out cold. He don't care if he is sleeping alone! And when he wakes up in the morning he has the worst eye boogies ever! Anyone else have one of these teenagers that don't stop? I am spent- I wonder if I had a regular 9-5 job how he would manage.

Lol Mine was the same and there is three of us who exercised him. He went and went even when his pads had worn off we still carried him into the sea for a swim, it seems like a blur now but I remember constantly trying to find things for him to do.

Lol so this is why the book I was reading about Pit Bull told me to get ready because my own personal trainer is coming to live with me for the next 12 yrs. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png
What are you doing now? I also need ideas and suggestions. |
Well I do about everything. He swims he does agility he has my two females to play with. He comes to all my classes with me. His training is solid. I taught him to salute and wave and turn light switches off. Lol. I'm exhausted haha. Just keep going I suppose I have no choice but damn he loves to just go all day.

try this...with a 6 month old baby on top of it! Logan is go go go, I am so thankful he is outside, but he is very vocal so if I don't keep him somewhat tired he goes nuts at barking at trees....a leaf...you name it. I have found something strange, he has leveled out at a year and with the change to raw his energy is more steady than hyper. I can walk him and he will look tired but as soon as he has 5 minutes rest he is ready for another 2 hour walk. (I think he knows I am sick right now because he has not been acting like a maniac and I have been unable to do anything with him since last friday) I can't wait till both are older...well I don't want my baby to grow up anymore...but if she doesn't I think I will have a mental break lol

We do a LOT of flirt pole, she absolutely loves it and doesn't get a better workout than that way. The only other thing she freaks out over more than the flirt pole, is chasing the water from the hose. I use the stream of water and point it to the grass and she will chase it much like chasing a flirt pole, but even with more exhuberance...this is her favourite activity. I do exercise caution though, because the grass will get rather slippery and to avoid injuries we keep these sessions rather brief. |

What's a carpet mill? Are they just as expensive as a tread mill? Are they heavier or lighter than your average treadmill?

this is a carpet mill in use. |
I'm right there with ya ! Faith, just turned a year and gosh darn it I feel like I'm chasing a toddler around 24/7! Today, we are going on a bike ride,walk/run. Regular walks just don't cut it anymore, she looks at me now like "Really? That's all ya got? Bring it on!"
I guess with her around I will feel forever young! |

Do as much as you can. Then when you are exhausted, and they are not, put them on a carpet mill for a little bit! be careful though not to over exert your pup http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/wink.png

Oh lord you must be living in my house too LOL. Lemmy will be 9 months on Mon and he owns whirling dervish of energy. I am ashamed to say it, but I sorta dreaded coming home this week. He was neutered on Tues and is on activity restriction, and I have been exhausted. I am a nurse at a community mental health agency and the other nurse I work with is off this week, so it has been ME for 80 clients........wow.....exhausting. He has tried my nerves thisblast week I tell ya.

I can so relate. So much of my time is spent exercising and keeping Zoe occupied with activities, it really is almost like a second job. She is so much fun, BUT a ton of work at the same time. Between obedience, agility, daily long runs, flirt pole, flirt hose (my invention), tug, chasing the quad, playing with her BFF, and miles on the treadmill...I am still trying to figure out ways to engage her mind and keep her busy.
The kicker is, the fitter they get...the more they seem to need, so it is a vicious circle. I wake up in the morning and think "what am I going to do with Zoe today...", and she KNOWS because after her breakfast and morning nap, she is pacing the house and looking at me thinking "so when is the fun going to start?". It seems that they are all cut from the same cloth http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png |
